Andrew Symonds flattens streaker

Symonds Shoulder Charge Punishment

Will he be charged?
i dont see why not cos the streaker wasnt going for symonds in any way and Symonds didnt have to shoulder charge him.
Thats actually assault.
I remember last year afridi got banned for just waving his bat at a spectator when he got provoked but Symonds wasnt even provoked.

Actually, the streaker was running straight at him.

Streaking is illegal, and players either get out of the way or help the security to catch them (if they're clothed mostly).

Symonds will be charged if the guy presses charges. Bit ridiculous for someone who just broke the law to try to invoke charges against someone who stopped him.

bulldozing them is not helping security catch them

bulldozing them is not helping security catch them
How not so? It stopped the streaker's momentum and allowed the security guys to easily nab the unclothed buffoon. IN any case Symonds would argue that he was scared the guy was going to attack him with his bat and balls.;)

Just got news papers and it was written

"Symonds Not To Face Any Charge " :happy

Icc spokesman mentioned that Symonds could have been charged with 4.2 if he had hit any of the rival players, oficial or spectators. A Streker is not a spectator.

Defending himself makes it sound like he would've gotten hurt. Unlikely. He just decided that the guy was being an idiot and thought he'd let him know. It's not like he chased him down or anything though, the opportunity arose and he took it. It was part of one of the best and most entertaining one-day matches I've ever watched, and if the ICC pull out some stupid rule to ruin this incident, they've got no idea of what is good for cricket at all.

As for the streaker pressing charges, you're responsible for what you do whether you're drunk or sober, and I don't reckon he's got a good chance of convincing a judge that he didn't deserve it.

Actually ICC has released him from all charges..Law speaks you can't be violent with Players,Officials and Spectator. But Streaker is no more count as Spectator and as first he broke the rule by entering the playing ground..
There is rule by ICC which saying If any Spectator or even Officials enter in to playing area during the match without permission of On ground empires then they are under the charge..

Trust Gambino to make an arguement when almost everyone disagrees with him.

Funniest thing I've ever seen on a cricket field.

In case anyone is wondering, here is what happened with the streaker:

A streaker left seeing stars when Andrew Symonds flattened him during the second tri-series final at the Gabba is unrepentant despite being fined over his antics.

Robert Ogilvie insists he has no regrets about his on-field romp, insisting it was "great" when burly all-rounder Symonds smashed him to the turf of Brisbane's Gabba ground with a shoulder charge.

Also:

The International Cricket Council (ICC) and Queensland Police will take no action against Andrew Symonds after he knocked down a streaker at the Gabba last night.

With Symonds and Matthew Hayden at the crease in the second tri-series final against India, a streaker ran on to the ground pursued by almost a dozen police and security guards.

He deserved anything he got for streaking. Clown.

A MAN fined $1500 for running naked onto the Gabba during last night's one-day cricket final says it "felt great " to be shoulder-charged by Andrew Symonds.
...
Outside court, Mr Ogilvie said it felt good to be knocked down by Symonds.

"It was great actually... it was just like playing football," he said.

Asked whether he had any intention of bringing assault charges against Symonds, Mr Ogilvie said: "No, wake up to yourself".
