ICC Announces Format for World Twenty20
Today the ICC have announced changes to the structure for the World Twenty20 in the West Indies this April.
It is announced that it will not be a group stage it will be a knockout over two games. In case the scores are tied after 2 matches the winner will be decided by which team has taken the most wickets so it is crucial in which team has the best attack. Also this years tournament will be contested by 8 teams instead of 12. This is to prevent a clutter of fixtures with the new format.
The draw will take place in two weeks at the final venue in Barbados.
The teams that will be involved are
- Australia
- England
- India
- New Zealand
- Pakistan
- South Africa
- Sri Lanka
- West Indies
