No Stuart Broad on that list ? Also, I don't think we've seen enough from Southee for him to be one of the bolded players. He's had 1 test where he was fantastic in the 1st innings but distinctly average in the 2nd. He looked unfit and lacking mental and physical strength for test cricket. He's not ready yet I don't think. He has a great deal of potential but I he shouldn't be playing test cricket yet.

If Southee cant be on that list Broad cant be either by your own reasoning. Both players are young, yes they are obviously talented, but both are "works in progress"

Broad's played 19 international games, and has been a success. Southee's played 1 proper international (not counting t20's) and wasn't particularly brilliant over the whole of the match. He's also played 36 first class games and 41 list A games. Southee's only played the 1 international and 13 FC games with 5 List A appearances. Broad's much more experienced at international and domestic level.

And yeh, sorry Ben, i obviously cannot read..

Yeah because Broad's older.

Southee's allround performance in his debut game clearly shows that he has a special cricketing talent.

It is highly unlikely we will get a bowler dominated era. Why? Because the grounds sell tickets and want the full five days play and TV likewise wants as much play as possible. So they get flat wickets which are easier for batting on, unless you happen to be India............. There will be the odd occaision a team gets skittled, conditions help the bowlers or one or more bowlers has a great game, but the pitches are going to favour batting as that's what the powers that be want.

I'd rather see a good bowling track, the batsmen have to work for their runs and the bowlers have to make most of it. A brilliant innings will win a low scoring match, these days there are just way too many triple hundreds and records broken. How often are bowling records mentioned? Apart from the where a bowler bowls and bowls to most ever wickets. They're not so much Tests these days as batting contests.

Its a lot harder to get 18 or something wickets in a match than to get a 200 and besides theres 7 batters(wicketkeeper counts) and only 4 bowlers.

A top order wicket can be worth 100 runs (if they're out for a low score). Some say a 5 wicket haul is like a century, but it's so much more than that.

The game is becoming more and more of a runs game, so I doubt we'll ever see a bowling era.
