Apart from a great result from Australia, there were numerous verbal encounters between Australia and England on the field. The most noticeable was an exchange between Clarke and Anderson (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUNt-...ture=youtu.be).

Do you think this level of sledging and banter is good for game or should the players tone it down a notch?

Sledging is unacceptable and the umpires should clamp down on it. Sadly most people can't differentiate between banter and sledging/abuse, you just don't know what someone else's trigger is to be offended etc

So it's better they cut it out entirely and play cricket, let your cricket do the talking and let the batsmen do the walking ;)

I actually quite like sledging because it does give the game extra meaning and that the players actually want to do well. There is a line though when you start bringing peoples private life into the game.

Clarke's been unlucky with the stump mic. They're all at it.

But as his words were picked up by the stump mic, that is concrete evidence of the sort of thing we don't want to hear on a cricket field and so rightly he was fined.

In the paper today Paul Collingwood said on tour in South Africa he was told he would be going home in an ambulance.

Clarke was unlucky in that Ch 9 broadcast it when they didn't broadcast anything anyone else said

its fair he got fined because he only played 80% of the game so he only deserved 80% of the pay

sledging if done right can add much needed spice to the game and makes players on all side go harder. It's fun....but like I said, if done right. IF it's a threat such as "I'll break your arm" and things along those lines, then players need to be fined or banned ,depending on their previous offences.
I personally believe clarke should have been banned from a game, what did he get? a 20% penalty on his match fees? people tend to forget his threatening behaviour, especially towards the umpires in england, namely aleem daar.

It's ridiculous how scott free the aussies have gotten away with this, i still remember johnson doing a ------ sign as he bowled someone out. ufff the ICC has weakened again and shown bias towards certain teams. It's becoming a habit which is hurting the game.
