Assigning bats to linked players

Is there any way to assign a bat to a player that is already linked in the game - i.e. they are in England/ Australia's default squads?

I want to be able to assign Liam Dawson his correct bat but there is no equipment tab in the 'edit player' screen. Is there any way I can unlink him to therefore be able to change his bat (and squad number)?

Go into the bats manager and you can assign bats to them. But they revert to the default bats if you switch off the game...
