Australian Domestic Cricket

Thats what I was thinking didn't think Telstra stadium was that far from the city. Looks to be a pretty good ground, wouldn't mind seeing an ODI on it with a better pitch of course.

Despite what it may look like on TV. The ground is ridiculously small. Even I could hit sixes with ease on it! When they were training, they looked to hit it a mile longer than the ground itself. The pitch always looks like a belter, and it is.

No we took the train. Usually to get there it's a half hour train to the city, then another half hour train to Lidcombe then like a 5 min train to ANZ. On the way back there's usually a direct train to the city from ANZ, but instead we had to go to Lidcombe, then an all stops train to the city which took about an hour + and then from the city we had to wait 15 minutes for the train then half hour on the train home...

Ah that's tough. You live pretty far away. I live pretty close. Just a 10 minute train trip to Lidcombe then the small wait for Olympic Park.

Wouldn't really be that packed. Despite the cheap tickets, the crowds usually hover around 10-15k. Was only 11,200 Saturday night.

Yeah, I'm surprised there isn't crowds of around 20k. There should be 20-25k this Saturday night, but we have to remember a lot of seats are unavailable because of the sight screen and that portable TV screen they have for replays.

I'm surprised that not many people go to the midwicket areas. That's where I sit for Footy and Cricket (Around there for footy). I went to India vs Australia test and we were sitting at square leg and you could hardly see the ball.

Yeah, but then again, ANZ has a capacity of like 85,000. Which is quite phenomenal when the State of Origin is on. Even quite high up last year, you could see basically everything.

Yeah, people seem to enjoy the sides more for some reason. I like the midwicket region, gives you a good view of everything.

And should be a good crowd for Saturday with what is up for grabs.

The side boundaries are small but I would imagine hitting down the ground would be a tough task.

I hope they get around 40k there, would create a much better atmosphere. The ground can hold up to 75k, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing that some day.

For the game against Victoria on Saturday, they wanted 20 thousand people but after Warner was called into the Australian squad that was going to be hard. They had around 11 thousand instead.

And on the boundaries at ANZ Stadium, I think they said the square boundaries were only three metres bigger than the Adelaide Oval.

They push the side stands back about 10 metres for the cricket. It looks very odd when your sitting at the stand around midwicket.

I will settle for 20k for the final. Domestic cricket isn't a real big thing tbf. It doesn't usually draw a lot of crowds and the Pura Cup final is a good example of this. We couldn't even fill up the 3 stands that are allowed to be used.

the WACA is usually packed, well it only holds about 15000 people, but having a full ground no matter the size always improves the atmosphere.

I may be going to the final on Saturday. Should be good fun. I ain't getting my hopes up of going yet though.

I'm not surprised at the decision, perhaps surprised that it was actually considered. Although it does look unnecessarily cautious on paper, I always felt it was likely that Victoria could lose a couple of players and end up in a sore position midway through the season. However, what is frustrating is that they are the best T20 team in the country and from a representative point of view, it would be disappointing if Australia is not represented by the best two teams. In fact, I'm not entirely convinced NSW is better than Qld.

angryangy added 27 Minutes and 47 Seconds later...

Anyway, it is NSW and Victoria who will meet in the final. Some concerns over Hodge's thigh, but if he plays that well injured, they might want to hobble the other one too.

Tight low scoring game. Hodge, Blizzard and Crosthwaite seemingly are the most dangerous in my eyes. Played a steady innings.

Should be another good match come Saturday.

Would be an even bigger upset if NSW can pull off a 2nd win over Victoria. Our batting lineup lacks the hitting power and is very inconsistent.

Which is why they've signed on Brendon McCullum for the final. :D That should bolster it.

Lol just read that. Feel for Victoria, NSW always manage to screw them over some way in a Final. But they will have the last laugh if they get him out cheaply. But wow huge signing and perfect replacement for Warner. Just thinking about it NSW could have both Warner and McCullum opening the batting!

Hughes is back too, so he will be a good partner for McCullum. Although I was getting use to Henriques opening, maybe he will come in at 3 probably not though.

It's the Pura Cup final all over again, bringing in the big names haha, and with Hodge probably out and McDonald captain for the first time, it really seems like we're gonna win.
