Season Review
Steven Cazzulino,5/10: Had some nice innings earlier in the season, getting two 50's but then really fell into bad form and lost his spot ending up only with an average of 19.7.

Liam Davis, 6/10: A player who usually got a start but never went on. His strike rate was at 65 which is bad for a no.7. Probably not batting in the right spot on the order.

Alex Doolan, 4/10: Despite getting plenty of oppurtunity during the season, Doolan only averaged 19.7 and a high score of 35. He has showed some promise though but many frustuating innings.

Grant Flower, 7/10: Came into the side in round four due to the strat-play and scored a brilliant 85 to cause some headaches for selectors. Unfortunately after his great start his consistency dropped off and his bowling was below par.

Brady Jones, -/10: Never got a chance with Paine been fit all season.

Rhett Lockyear, 3/10: A very, very disappointing season for Lockyear. Was given a chance to shine but stumbled at every hurdle. He only averaged 12.4 and never really looked comfortable after a good pre-season.

Tim Paine, 8/10: A real warrior for the Heroes. Had the hard job of opening and he scored well, getting four 50's with a strike rate of 83. The second highest run scorer for the Heroes and looks to be a future captain.

Andrew Strauss, 5/10: For an experienced player, Strauss never got going in a shocking season for the Brit. Averaging a mere 21.4 and not getting a milestone will surely see him packing his bags.

Sachin Tendulkar, 10/10: The greatest batsmen of the modern era, and arguable god, Tendulkar blitzed the APL with his magical skills averaging a smooth 63.8, including 8 50's but no centuries which was his only negative. Hobart could always rely on him to re-build their innings if a top order collapse happened. His bowling however wasn't as good as last season.

Jonathan Wells, 6/10: Only had the one chance in the dead-rubber last round match. He scored a respectable 32, more than half of Rhett Lockyear's season runs.

Andrew Flintoff, 9/10: Had a brilliant season will the ball getting 26 wickets and leading the wicket taking tally for the APL. He always seemed to pick up a few wickets each match. He also went decent with the bat, but not spectacular.

Jason Floros, 6/10: had one chance but blew it by only getting 10 runs and getting spancked.

Rana, 5/10: Didn't perform like last season and will struggle to get a new contract. His wicket taking ability seemed to have went and he looked depleted after his final chance.

James Anderson, -/10: Didn't even get a game, was very angry at this.

Steven Finn, 6/10: Had two matches and snagged two wickets at around 5 RPO, definately a gun in the future.

Xavier Doherty, 5/10: Didn't get more than one wicket in any match and was one of the key reasons why the Heroes couldn't bowl a team out efficiently.

Shane Warne, 8/10: Another good season by the contreversial captain-after-getting-sacked-for-one-game. Really turned his season around but rumours are still going that the Heroes want him out despite been clearly their second best bowler.

Overall Team Rating: 6/10

@Biggy: Put this in first post, thanks.

How many players do we have to release again?

BKB1991 added 0 Minutes and 21 Seconds later...

It was somewhere in the thread before but I missed it :o

5 locals and 3 overseas players.

I would prefer 4 locals and 3 overseas players. I'd like to keep my best XI intact.

Season Review

Travis Birt: 8/10 Probably my best batsman, on top of shouldering the keeping duties. Played every match and was consistent more than outstanding. Only one fifty but still managed an average of 37.6

Jesse Ryder: 3/10 Like the other New Zealander in the team (before I traded him away), Ryder had a very dismal performance with the bat and was uneconomical with the ball.

Usman Khawaja: 4/10
It was hoped that he would shine with the bat in this lineup, being one of the most promising batsmen on the Australian domestic scene. However he only scored one fifty in averaging 19. He played most games due to our shortage of good Australian players but didn't improve.

Chris Lynn: 9/10
For a random domestic pick, Lynn has far exceeding my expectations performing superbly as a finisher, despite a rather low strike rate. He has managed to stay at the crease and bring the match home a few times and his average of 39.1 is one of the best in the team.

Eoin Morgan: 7/10 In general Morgan did not act up to the standards that he should be attaining. He is one of the best ODI batsmen in the world and his average is boosted from his century in one of the final games of the season. Still, to average 49.8 is no mean feat.

Marcus North: 7/10 In addition to being a mainstay of our middle order, North also managed to take 6 wickets at a not too expensive rate. He averaged 34.3 with the bat which was boosted by 3 half centuries. In general he wasn't that consistent and as our most high profile Australian player he should have performed better.

Rob Quiney: 1/10 A late addition to the squad, he only managed to get 3 matches but did not perform in any of them.

Jonathan Trott: 6/10 Despite not living up to the high standards of the previous season, he was still our highest run scorer as well as scoring the most half centuries and having a high strike rate. His rating is so low because of the high expectations I had placed on him.

Shakib Al Hasan: 6/10 A mid season signing, he performed adequately in our strat play games but cost us at least one match thanks to his slow batting.

Luke Butterworth: 5/10 Was injured for much of the season, but when he was playing he was very expensive with the ball. Our only Australian all-rounder he was required to do a lot but wasn't able to. His batting average flatters him.

Angelo Mathews: 6/10 Another mid season signing, he performed better than Shakib and got the heads up for the finals. His average includes games played for other teams but he was valuable in the lower middle order and with the ball.

Ryan McLaren: 7/10 Due to our lack of Australian all-rounders, McLaren usually filled that role in the side. He performed admirably, taking wickets, and scoring runs, while not excelling at either, he didn't disappoint either.

Luke Feldman: 8/10 A second surprise, Feldman picked up 18 key wickets at a good economy rate and average. Before the season started there were doubts about the choice of him in the XI but by the end he was one of the first pencilled in.

Brett Geeves, Ashley Noffke & Peter George: 3/10, 1/10, 2/10 All three played few games in the season, picking up a few wickets but normally very expensively. Were not good enough to serve as the third seamer.

Chris Swan: 10/10 Continued his great work from last season to end up as one of the best bowlers in the competition, at one point being the highest wicket taker, and earning a place in the Australian side. His 25 wickets were undoubtedly the main reason Cairns made it into the finals this year.

Graeme Swann: 7/10 Was dropped for a number of games but came back strongly with a bowling performance that helped us get into the finals. Was for most of the season our only spinner, and had a lot of pressure because of this. Performed well and is already attracting offers for the next season.

No, you are right Gazza, Callum's post said you kept 7 locals last season, but it was actually 8, so it confused me.

So you MUST release 4 locals, 3 overseason, 1 more of each compared to last season.

Sorry.

(Could my review be linked in the first page please? Thanks)

Season Review:

Kyle Mills (5/5) - Easily one of the best fast bowlers in the world showed us exactly why he is so good. I was planning to offload him (and still am :p) and he hit me back on every word with every wicket, always pointing to the stands when he took it.

Muttiah Muralitharan (5/5) - Our most consistent player in all three seasons combined, Murali has taken wickets whenever they mattered. The pitch type doesnt matter to a quality spinner like him

Mike Hussey (4/5) - The Worlds best finisher didnt look comfortable @ 6 and henced was moved around the order. When he finally found his perfect spot he found some form as well, but someone of his calibre would still not be pleased with his efforts

Lee Carseldine (4/5) - Was pleased to sign someone like him and Carseldine performed very well this season for us. He played in nearly every position in the batting card and did an ample job in all of them.

Shane Harwood (4/5) - Another signing, Harwood had a slow start to the campaign after it looked like Laughlin was Moody's pick, but like most of Moody, Harwood came back strongly and proved everyone wrong by taking as many wickets as veteran fast bowler Bracken.

Adam Voges (3.5/5) - A strong start for Voges this season but couldnt keep it up. Alot more is expected of him

MS Dhoni (3.5/5) - Our Captain and WK didnt have a memorbale season, and didnt look at all like one of the worlds best batsman. A season that had alot of starts and stops Dhoni would look to improve

Nathan Bracken (3.5/5) - Another ordinary season for the Left armer. being the senior Aussie fast bowler more was expected of him but he failed to live up to the expectations.

Umar Akmal (3.5/5) - In all fairness, Akmal wasnt really given much of a chance but a fifty in three games is still a commendable effort.

Grant Elliot (3.5/5) - With the stratplays used Elliot came into the team and looked to stay there. Bowled and Batted well, but not enough to solidify a certain spot

Bryce McGain (3.5/5) - Never got enough games but did well in the two he did get

Ben Laughlin (3/5) - Did a fair job but could have been better. Should bounce back in the next season and give Harwood a better fight.

Chris Gayle (2/5) - One of the best limited over player, Gayle was horrible. The only reason he was in the team was that he could bend his arm and bowl

Mark Cleary (2/5) - Looked solid in the pre-season but when the real thing started he failed.

Mark Cosgrove (1.5/5) - There is something wrong with him. Two extremely poor seasons and one extraordinary one!!!! Something's wrong and the Perth management is loosing patience

Ed Cowan (1.5/5) - Another player that failed to live up to the expectations and played horrendously.
