Ok. The most well known aussie bands came from the 80's, it was our musical peak. There were literally 20 or 30 bands that were huge in any given year, and the most aussie bands cracked the USA in the 80's.
Yeah like you said, it would depend on things like taste in music. Although, I doubt many people outside of Australia would say AC/DC are the greatest (rock) band of all time
Robelinda, are you a big 80s fan? I love the 80s music... particularly the synth pop stuff as well as new wave from bands like New Order and Depeche Mode, but I love all the classics.. despite only being a teenager now.
At least half of my (small) 400 song iTunes library is 80s... I have Toto, Soft Cell, Visage, Cameo, Blancmange, Adam and the Ants, INXS, Wang Chung, Duran Duran... love it.
I realise this doesn't relate to Australian rock as three quarters of these bands aren't even Australian, but I just wanted to have a separate discussion.
80's 80's 80's, love it! All the new wave stuff, the late 80's Bros stuff, wa Wa Nee, Duran Duran, Toto, Journey, Icehouse, Cold Chisel, Aussie Crawl, Genesis, Rick Springfield, INXS, Bon Jovi, Cyndi Lauper, all the hair metal, all the aussie bands, its all good!
