Australia Through To Final

After winning the toss and electing to bowl, the Indian team battled hard to keep Australia to 341. Shane Watson and Brad Haddin batted superbly at the top of the order, making 108 (86) and 65 (61) respectively. The Australian middle and lower order however, were unable to capitalise on this fantastic start. The so called 'boring middle overs' were a buzz with excitement for the home crowd. Between the 30th and 40th overs, Australia lost 4 wickets for just 63 runs. Suresh Raina and Ashish Nehra were the best of the bowlers for India. The pair took 3 wickets each and were fairly economical. Sreesanth bowled well to take 2 wickets, but it came at a cost. He leaked 81 runs of his 10 overs. Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan also picked up a wicket apiece. Dave Hussey was the real saviour of the Australian innings making an invaluable 73 from 46. The Australians ended up being bowled out in the 50th over for 341.

So, after a sizzling opening innings by Shane Watson, the Aussies were probably be a tiny bit disappointed with their final score. The success of Harbhajan and Raina meant that the pitch was turning in to a real mess. Steven Smith, Dave Hussey and Cameron White were under huge pressure to perform with the ball.

When the Tendulkar and Sehwag strolled out to the centre, they knew they had a huge task ahead of them. Shaun Tait and Steven Smith took the new ball for Australia. Opening with spin turned out to be a master stroke for Ricky Ponting. Steven Smith absolutely dominated, taking 4-50 off his 10 overs. The pitch really was in terrible condition and the majority of his wickets were caught in the outfield, but Smith really had announced himself as an international cricketer. Aside from Yuvraj Singh, none of the Indians put a price on their wicket. Tendulkar, Sehwag, Gambhir, Raina and Dohni all failed with the bat. If it wasn't for a superb 88 from Yuvraj, India would have crumbled to an absolutely miserable sub 100 score. As it was, they were bowled out in the 31st over for 182. For Australia, Hussey, Lee and Tait all took 2 wickets.

Australia ended up winning by 159 runs and were through to the Final of the world cup. The home side, India, were knocked out of the tournament and 1 billion people's hopes were shattered. Shane Watson just took out the Man of the Match award ahead of Steven Smith and David Hussey.

That game reminded me of WC 2003 final when Australia thrashed India. By the way, why don't you use "Print Screen" button to take the screenshot of scorecard, Tim (I hope you have one in your keyboard). It will give you better screenshots. What game are you using for the story, mate?

You are mistaken Fenil bhai, he is using IC2010, which unfortunately isn't available for PC. So, he cannot just hit "Print Screen" button to take screenshots:/.

I'm playing IC2010 for PS3. Best game of the past decade, but I don't have a capture card, so screenshots and videos don't look great.

Oh, too bad. I wish that game would have had a PC version. Looks an excellent one.
