Former Australian batsman Michael Bevan says he still holds some hope of playing in next year's World Cup in the West Indies.
...
Bevan said he would have retired from first-class cricket this season had it not been for the World Cup.

Don't know how well he would do on return but if he was anywhere near the form in his hayday then he would be welcome addition to the team. Having him and Hussey will provide us with one dam good lower order.

Wow, what an unbelievable batting average. :O Influenced by many not outs I presume?

In first-class he averages 57 and in List a he averages like 58.

I wouldn't leave it to the young guns. That could be our undoing.

Bevan is definitely the best example of a "MATCH WINNER"... & tough batsman to get him out!!! i still rember Bevan & S.Waugh matches....solid pair!!!

i agree with syl's point that Bevan and Hussey will make the lineup strongest!!!

Bevan is arguably the best ODI player ever. If Australia were hit by a spate of injuries, like what England have endured, the selectors would be foolish not to try to use his talents and experience.

"So it's a very outside chance but something I want to be there for just in case."

It's not like he doesn't know he's not on the short list.

Super Bichel, up, up and away!

New rule: if Andy Bichel kicks your stumps, you are out.

Why'd he kick over the stumps?

Well the thing is the Aussies have a real good bench-strength now.
Bevan,Bichel,Dizzy [at present ]

Any idea why Bevan was thrown out of the team ?

He went into a mini form slump which prompted Hohns to say his value to the ODI side had decreased and with his age that meant bye bye Bevan.

Hated watching him. Selfish player. Only cared about his average.
