Did anyone watch this when it was on first time around, catch it when the first series was shown on BBC2 about eight years ago, or indeed has seen it on DVD or downloaded episodes?

I have to say it is my favourite Sci-Fi series/film of all time, shame the way it ended. The whole concept isn't disimilar to Star Wars in the struggle against a tyrannic empire, but it didn't have to have huge battles all the time. The underdogs had their superior spacecraft and they always had an ally to help them even if they never had any real chance of fighting the Federation.

One shame for me was when they changed Travis, the second one was such a disappointment. And Servalan was someone you simply couldn't hate, despite who she was. I never went a bundle on Blake himself, although what I recall of it when it was on originally he wasn't in it, I always liked Avon and Vila. This back when Saturdays were the highlight of the week TV-wise as well as sport-wise.

Any other Blakes Seven fans out there? Bear in mind comments about how you don't like it are not wanted so please don't bother posting if you feel you want to say something negative and not at all constructive.

Yeah , have watched in days of misspent youth! Avon if I remember correctly was my favourite character. When I saw an episode again not so long ago I realised how differently you look as a child as compared to when you are an adult. As a child it looked so good and was exciting, as an adult there was a nostalgic value in watching but....

For me I enjoyed watching it, perhaps more so because I didn't see the early episodes as a kid and following the plot was good. There are some really dire episodes mind, and the amount of times the Liberator is boarded by enemies and the crew taken hostage is ridiculous given their spacecraft is high tech.

I know a lot of people look at old sci-fi and trot out the usual "dated" and "cardboard sets" lines, but to be frank it's hundreds of times the entertainment and acting that you get in the garbage people watch religiously like corrie. I think more people have been murdered in corrie than EVER died in Blakes Seven, and that includes extras, aliens and humans from the big battle etc.

I recommend Blakes Seven to anyone who missed it as a kid, or is too young to have seen it. It is very much on a par with Doctor Who of the day, preferred in my case, as it is by the same creator (Terry Nation > 'god') Nearly starting watching it over yesterday, meant to at xmas as that is the only time I'd have had enough hours off work to watch through a significant chunk. I remember getting it series by series and watching it even in one series boxsets was hard work (in terms of fitting it in)

I'm guessing this thread won't get too many replies, the forum too young overall and too wrapped up in modern day offerings that are high octane bullsh1t with minimal plot.
