Hi All

I am sure that this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know how to make a fast bowler? I went to the career player and selected bowler and then selected fast bowler, assigned my stats and wanted to play. But I have now foudn out that my fast bowler only bowls at 50kph, this is as slow as my spin bowler, and I was really hoping to make a shoab/lee type bowler, real express. Does anyone know what I did wrong.

Thanks

Welcome to the world of BLIC :) This is a major problem with BLIC as career fast bowlers bowl slower than spinners!!!

Apparently as you keep playing and as your career fast bowler gets more wickets, you will get more points that you can use to enhance your career bowler's stats. But I have been doing so for 3 weeks now and it doesn't improve speed at all as there's no attribute for speed which you can enhance by adding more points to it. I am hoping if I add enough points to my bowler, it might start bowling fast ultimately :upray

By the way, the best way of getting points for your career player is by bringing your bowler on when opposition has lost 6-7 wkts and then blow away the tail with ur career bowler. Another option is to play against weaker teams like Bangladesh and get some cheap wickets to get some free points :D

The higher the bowling stat the quicket he gets, mine was maxed out and bowled about 80mph so stick with it and he can turn into a pretty useful bowler

So is there now way of getting your career fast bowler to bowl at more than 80 mph? I was hoping mine wud become Akhtar one day and bowl at 104 mph :)

Yeh but you cant edit yourself in the player editor by making through career? or do you overwrite joe bloggs

You can change any players name to your name ingame then edit the stats + face through the editor. I'm not sure how you can use the Joe Bloggs ones though.

I gave up on my career fast bowler, I've been playing RPIC for about 3 months and his slower ball is quicker than the stock fast ball... Like someone already said unless you are playing the minnows its hard to get top order wickets with the slow fast bowler.

I've created a career Off Spinner now.

Career Players suck big time on BLIC, be it bowlers or batsmen. BLIC assumes that the players are absolute novices - at least that's how the skill points are given to the players.

I like EA's way of creating career players better - you can actuall create a 'perfect' player in the game who can help you win matches. Career Player in BLIC is a liability.

Codemasters/BLIC overlooked one important thing regarding career players. It's ok to start off with lowe skill points if you start off at a club level, then move to county level, to national level and finally to international level - similar to Top Spin or Fight Night. This way you keep on playing similar kind of opponents and gradually garner enough skill points by the time you reach the highest level.

However, unfortunately in BLIC 2K5 the only level is 'International' or 'County' and there's no way you can rack up the points unless you keep on playing 10 men Vs 11 (let's face it the career player is a liability and no good).

The career player as a batsman is still ok, you can improve each game. Another career player fault is the fielding, how often do you get catches and if ever a runout. Your player remains a liability in the field.

I pity the bloke who creates a wicket keeper career player :laugh

Hi All

Well thanks for the replies, thats what i thought when I started one, so I now have changed him to a leg spinner, much better, get more wickets. The only problem that I see with leg spinners, is that no matter how many points you give to turn, it doesn't help at all. I have another off spinner career player, and he gets loads of turn even on the bad tracks.

I have been playing the world cup on county, and my off spinner is racking up wickets at a rate of knots. I get on average 3 wickets a game for my off spinner and 2 wicket for my leg spinner. As to how I get them, well most of them are catches to third man, or fine leg, some bowled. There seems to be a major flaw in county as to the shots the computer plays. If you bowl a really slow ball outside the offside at about over 14 of a 20 over match the computer tries to hit you out the park, and you normally get the wicket. Has anyone also noticed that from batsman 8 you can bowl yorkers and pick up a wicket just about every ball, rather strange.

As to the career batsman, I don't have any problems there, seems to be ok. The only problem I have there is that the average for the batsman is really terrible. Where do they get those from, I have now played a couple of games, and my average written down on paper is 45, yet in the game it says 9.75, go figure.

Thanks

My favourite method of improving career players is to play a double wicket match against two tailenders who can't bowl either. You can bowl them out nearly every ball for 10 overs, getting a decent 30 wickets, and then you can slog while batting. Best on slog mode. Time-consuming.

LomWoss,
There are plenty of problems with career players and I have noticed stats is one of them. My career batsman has played 5 innings so far (1 test and 3 odis) with scores of 50, 150, 22, 0 and 15 and as per the game, average of my player is 13.33! Another annoying thing is that when you select 'Career' team, it automatically drops the batsman that was supposed to bat at the position your career player will bat. E.g. I created an all-rounder and assigned him to bat at no.4 and whenever I play with my career team, I have to add Tendulkar (in Tests) and Dravid (in odis) coz the game drops these batsmen rather than re-assigning their batting position and dropping the weakest batter instead of them.

Another major flaw with the game is that tailenders and lower order batsmen are simply useless - most of the times I get the last 3 or 4 wkts against any country for less than 5 runs and I play on 'Test' mode. In real life you do expect some sort of resistance from the tail - it's not like tailenders are Allan Mullalys or Courtney Walshs. I am not expecting them to score a 100 but an occasional 20 or 30 and a few 10s should definitely be possible for tailenders.

alfa_beta,

I have to agree. It is a real pity about this, cause the game is a lot better than EA cricket. The only thing that I really enjoy about EA is the fact that they understand that stats is a major part of cricket, and therefore give you the stats on the players. I would have really liked to see these stats in BLIC but I get the feeling that they were left out due to time constraints. The first version of BLIC had them so I am a little lost as to why they were left out.

I really hate the tailenders, as you can bowl them out to easily. I agree that I would like to see them give a bit more of a fight at the end.

I just get the feeling that they could have put so much more into this, but for some reason did not.
