Cars

I'm taking Drivers Training in March.
14 and 9 months is the cutoff here in the US :)
I'll probably be getting my sisters Honda Civic. Its not a bad car but its as old as I am.

My mums got that new land rover, They've already bought me my car, I got a really old Land Rover which i'm just going to destroy, I already drive it on our fields. I might be getting one of those chavvy ford focus things when i'm 17 though

HAHA, when im 17 i shall be almost certainly investing in an Audi A3. I will also add some nice 17" alloys to it. Will look rather smart.

I'm starting my driving lessons in January and i've already bought a nice little Ford Ka. I can't wait.

Nice, good luck with those. Driving is awesome fun, i've had 5 lessons now and really enjoying it. Will be getting a car for my 18th, probably go for a Saxo or a Clio or something. Also, the words "nice" and "Ka" should never go together :p Ford Kacks ftl ;)

jokes :p

SD, surely insurance for a 17 year old on an Audi A3 is going to be even more expensive than for a normal car. Insurance is expensive enough on a Saxo, let alone an Audi A3. I think my parents are going to insure a car and stick me as a named driver so its cheaper. They're paying for the insurance as its my 18th birthday present. Probably go to a Car auction and get a nice car.

Yeh but i think my dad can get it on his company insurance, cos he gets shed loads of discount as the company has like 100 vehicles. I think he got my mums down from around ?1600 to ?350 or something. I'm not entirely sure if i can do this, but i hope i can.

Your Mum's insurance will be cheaper because she is older and has probably been driving for a few years and probably has a few years of no claims. Therefore her insurance will be cheaper. Insurance on an Audi A3 for a 17 year old will be stupidly expensive, no matter where your Dad works. Like i said, insurance on a saxo for me will be about £1000. On an Audi A3 its gonna be alot more. I'd look to get a hatchback instead.

Nooo, the reason behind my mums insurance is because it went down on the company insurance. They would have charged her, shed loads, but my dad got it down to like 5 times less. He owns the company, and he put it on the insurance and gets massive discounts due to having like 100 vehicles on the list. I Suppose its like buying in bulk. I am saying, if my dad does this for me, i expect he can get it much cheaper...but i don't know exactly how the insurance thing works so i will have to see.

Bumpage !! :p

Was just looking on AutoTrader at Clio's mainly, then I checked out the Saxo's to see what they're going for atm. A car almost identical to mine, same version, same miles on the clock, same interior, same features, but 1 year younger is going for £2'800. I didn't think my car would be worth over a grand atm, let alone over £2500. I'm seriously considering putting it on Autotrader once i've cleaned up a small scratch on the front bumper. For £2800 I can get a 2001 1.2 Clio Dynamique with all the gadgets and gizmos and have £300 left over. What you reckon, is it worth sticking it on Autotrader and seeing what happens or should I just stick with it until next year ?

The Clio's better looking, cheaper insurance, cheaper to tax, better economy, has power steering and all the other gadgets. I'm very tempted indeed. I've got a 2001 Saxo Forte 1.1i with 44'000 miles on the clock. Comes with a Cd Player that doesnt recognise cds when moving, a sunroof, erm, windy windows, lights, has all the necessitites, but none of the luxuries. A 2002 carbon copy is going for £2'800 on Autotrader. There's a few on there which are similar age and spec but have done double the miles. One with this few miles are going for over £2000.

What you reckon ?

well we drive a Peugot 407 , its nice inside but i really don't like the outside shape....
