Post Line-ups Champions League XX - Round 1 - It's time to give the people what they need, not what they want...

Yes but I think most people here would rate them as the 8th seed here.

I gave you like five reasons why they're not my top seed, how many more reasons why they're not do you want?

I'd say most of the sides look about even.

CG123 added 3 Minutes and 33 Seconds later...

Everyone's been talking about MCC and MU in my pool, but I've snuck up into top position. :D

@ Jono - Why can't the home teams chose the pitches for the playoffs?

I don't like this same pitch for each round business. More poor pitches!:p

I'm a fan of having the same pitch for all the matches, as that makes it 100% fair, but I would have liked 2 poor, 2 normal, and 2 excellent.

Also if I qualify top, and are on more points than the top of the other group, I'd like to think I'd get to chose the pitch type, instead of playing on an excellent one.

Because there is no home team. The top of each group are playing each other - there's nothing to tell who should be the home team. Those matches will probably be played at neutral grounds. And I like high scoring matches so that's why they're excellent :p

Normal pitches should be the default, and then poor and excellent for variation. Making the same pitch for each round makes it so much simpler for me to make sure that everyone plays the same number of games on the same types of pitches.

man, I'm versing cape again in Round 4.

Also I'd agree with Callum that there should be a balance of pitches, Poor-Normal-Excellent - 2 each.

Just compare the two teams, so the one that dominated their group more gets to play at home...
That's what I done in NZPL anyway, when the 1st team in each pool versed each other in the major semi, the team on the highest points (actually went down to NRR), got to chose the pitch type.
And the winner of the major semi, should then get to chose the pitch for the grand final, and the loser of the major semi get to chose the pitch for the preliminary.
Those are just my thoughts anyway, because poor pitches are my strength, and were through the AfPL, yet none of the 4 playoff matches are on them.

Ok I'll make the sixth round poor pitches.

I was going to do this originally but then I rethought my plans. I suppose I can rethink my rethink and change them back.

Ok, your call. ;)

Maybe make the major and minor on normal pitches and at neutral venue, then the loser of major plays at home in the preliminary hence gets to select the pitch, and the winner of the major plays at home in the grand hence gets to select the pitch.

But,Pietersen bowls well on poor pitches in APL :p
Extremely disappointed with the result though.
The top 3 spinners in the world in this format could only manage 3 wickets (all to Swann) on a poor pitch :facepalm

In 50 over matches I would probably go; Vettori, Murali, Swann/Afridi, Singh/Hauritz, Ajmal/Botha/Mendis.

So IMO you probably have three out of four of the best spinners in the world, but I would definitely put Murali ahead of Swann and Afridi.
