So your sayin players like Bevan are not as good as Players Like Langer.
Both could win matches. JL would be right up there with Bevan. Playing 100 Test Matches for any country, especially for Australia is exceptional.
Bevan's average was made up of a chunk of not out's, that's why as he begun to die off his average dropped from 60 to 50 while Langer's dropped from 46 to only 45. Don't get me wrong, an average of over 40 in ODI cricket is great and over 50-60 is unbelievable, that's what was so amazing about someone like Viv Richards who consistantly averaged 50 throughout his ODI career.
Though if you can succeed in ODI's but not Test Cricket then that takes some of the shine off you're ODI success while it doesn't really take any shine off you're Test acchievements if you aren't as good in ODI's.

Your probably right but i wished it didn't work like that, so many people underate ODI i just dont like it, and John Adams is right any how... its our opinions

The complete successful batsman have ODI averages of 40+ and Test averages of 50+.
I don't think comparing Bevan to Langer was fair though as Bevan's average is full of notouts.

That is the greatness of Bevan, he can hit heaps of runs at the end without getting out, that is a skill of One Day cricket, like i said before the games have different skills, so you cant compare the greatness of those players and say who is better.

Oh how I wish Bradman could arrive here from the past, in his prime, and play one dayers, just to see how he'd go. He'd probably say "wtf is going on here?" :laugh

My views on ODI cricket are well known but i'll say this anyway.

How many of the legends in ESPN's Legend of Cricket are in there purely for their ODI pedigree? Exactly.

Tests are the real deal, ODI's shouldn't be taken as seriously.

It hasn't rain yet in Sydney but it is possibility that it could happen. There already storms warnings for the western parts in NSW today but the warning zones is getting bigger throughout the afternoon today.

England could be guaranteed a hand on the trophy anyway?

So what, we beat Australia in an ODI. We still lost the Ashes 5-0 and that's what counts. This tour is a disaster.

So you saying even though the teams are putting on there national colours it shouldn't be taking seriously?

Yes they should be taken seriously, but not as seriously as Tests which is what I clearly said in my post.

Speaking of one dayers, do you guys remember when there were two new white cricket balls at the start of an innings? That was the best thing to do conncering the ball. I'm sick of these ball changes during matchs, coz the ball is too dirty. If they used 2 as they did in the past, then there'd be no problem. And it's happening the world over not just in Australia!
