Consoles gone in ten years?

There's always talk about consoles dying out, and there is some genuine thought this could be the last console generation. Certainly as we've known them in their current and previous guises, the next next consoles are likely to be very different.

There is likely to always be a need for a dedicated, straight from the box gaming option. It's just as technology advances, who's to say something as simple as a phone couldn't power all the games you want via wireless conectivity to your Tv.

True. Either way, the sooner we see an end to the PS3 vs Xbox 360 vs PC vs Wii wars the better. Are we that far away from the day when anyone can buy any game they want, instead of being pissed off that it isn't available on their machine?

Then again, MS and Sony wouldn't like that...
