Ok, this game is crashing my computer to desktop and automatically restarting it! Before any of you start saying it's my computer at fault, it's not! I have a brand new very high end computer, firewall installed and running, antivirus up and running, and I use Spybot and Adaware every week. This only happens with this game, no other game, and I play Battlefield 2 with all the settings on high, Half Life 2, Quake 4 etc.

The error message I get when my computer restarts is as follows:-

Error caused by a device driver

Thank you for sending an error report to Microsoft.

Error report summary

Error type : Windows stop error (A message appears on a blue screen with error code information)
Solution available? : No (see Next steps)
What does this error mean? : Windows has encountered an error from which it cannot recover and needs to restart
Cause : Unknown device driver
Computer symptoms : A message appears on a blue screen with error code information (for example: e.g. 0x0000001E, KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED)
Additional steps for you to take : Important: Please continue to send error reports so analysts at Microsoft can study and try to correct the problem as quickly as possible

Information about this error

You received this message because a device driver installed on your computer caused the Windows operating system to stop unexpectedly. This type of error is referred to as a "stop error." A stop error requires you to restart your computer.

Next steps

We have analyzed your error report and at this time are unable to determine the exact cause of the error. However, Microsoft will continue to analyze this error report to try to determine the specific cause of the error. If we are able to find the cause and correct it, and you encounter the same problem, you will receive an updated response that includes instructions for resolving the problem.

I know it says it's a device driver on my computer, but as every other game I have runs perfectly, then the fault is with this game.

I have attached my DXDIAG as of today, I would appreciate some help with this. Thanks.

I think i know your problem. Uninstall all your drivers and install http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_84.21.html
That's for your display drivers but I need the make of your motherboard before you install that so I can give you the correct motherboard driver to install. Just as a random guess im guessing its a Nforce 4 but MAKE SURE first. If not reply back to me and tell me what it is. If it is a Nforce 4 install this driver http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4_winxp32_amd_6.70.html

Remember to uninstall! :)

Look forward to your reply

Not sure about the NForce 4 bit but my mobo is an Asus A8N SLI Deluxe, I don't know where to find out about the NForce 4. I know that when I tried to update my drivers a few weeks back, everything seemed to go well but I eneded up with a black screen and ended up having to go through the whole F8 bit to recover my system. That happened twice when trying to install drivers, and I had uninstalled my drivers before doing that. I think one thing I noticed when that happened was that the word Analouge came up on the bottom right of my monitor whereas I think normally I get Digital! That's why I'm a bit hesitant about doing this again, don't want things to mess up again.

Edit: Sorry I have posted this in the wrong forum, it should be in ICC 2005, but you were correct, my mobo is NForce 4.

Thanks for your help, do you think you could give me a 'step by step' on the uninstall and installing of the two downloads? I'm not sure which should be installed first etc.

Ok if you go to your control panal you should see Nvidia Drivers

Next click Change / Remove and a window should appear Click remove all Nvidia drivers INCLUDING display. Then continue.

Then go to C: and delete your Nvidia folder. Then reboot and when your computer starts up don't be alarmed at what it looks like! :D

When it's rebooted install http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4_winxp32_amd_6.70.html
This is the motherboard driver. Then reboot.

Next install http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_84.21.html
This is for your display, it will be updated.

That's pretty much it. If you have any problems feel free to PM me or just reply to this thread :)

Good luck! :D
