Sri Lanka Vs Zimbabwe

next match on the scheldule was between Sril Lanka and Zimbabwe,
Sri Lanka being the victor, but zimbabwe did bat decently

the star of the Sri Lanka innings was once again Samaraweera making a blazing 77,

and again Sanath Jayasuria showed signs of form with a solid knock of 56,

Gunawardene also was looking in form with 55*

In the Zimbabwe innings they were right on target with a opening stand of 99 betwen Ebrahim who made a patient knock of 49,

and Mariler who also played watchful for his 45

the only other one that provided restistance was Masakadza with unconvicing 22.

A new kind of all rounder
the cheif destroyer of the Zimbabwe innings was opening batsman Sanath Jayasuria with 4 wickets. Who is a devasting opening batsman that has sent strong bowling attacks to the fence even australia have struggled with this great mans batting ablity and bowling for that matter

Douglas Hondo was the only mulitple wicket taker for Zimbabwe with 2.

no suprises there with the result of that match. jaysuria has been one of the best players of the past decade in my opinion. the only problem has been that he hasnt had the really good players with him like he did back when ranatunga and kalu and de silva were at their best

yeh, i didnt have a clue that he was such a good bowler until i looked it up, his got 267! and mcgrath has 324! pretty amazing!

Sri Lanka Vs Australia
At a Night match on a hard pitch Sri lanka Elected to bat first, this toss did no come off as they would of liked, with only 211 runs being scored.

The Australian Innings is due to start soon with Langer batting 2
Langer was looking in top form with his 60, it was much more fast paced than his other innings and should silence his critics who disagree agaisnt his ODI selection, he race to 50 off just 53 balls, but like his first innings he was run out again looking to increase the runrate, overall it was a great knock, with adam gilchrist gone second ball it was up to langer and ponting to get australia closer to Sri Lankas 211, which they did easily with 6 wickets left,
heres highlights of his innings

Sri Lanka Crumble to be all out for 211
Sri lanka crumbled to 211 with only 2 players making more than 30 runs,
the only plus they could gain from this poor batting performance was Jayasurias batting form making 40,

Jayawardene made 46 with 5 fours and 1 six off just 62 balls

The Aussie Bowlers shared the wickets with Hussey claming 2

Dizzy taking 2 cruical wickets

Mcgrath with 1

Lee with 1

and Hogg with 1

Captains Knock
the Other star of the innings was langers partner in crime, ricky ponting who patiently made 87 off 156 balls with 11 fours

of course Langer deserves mention with 60 off 70balls with 6 fours

The only other aussie to dent the scoreboard was Simon Katich with a quickfire 24 notout off just 15 balls with 6 fours (all runs scored by boundaries)

The bowling figures for Sri Lanka werent good at all,
with Vaas taking 1 for 63

Maling taking 1 for 85

and the pick of the bowlers Fernado with 1 for 20

The next match is between Australia and Zimbabwe

Hayden Returns from injury

Australian Opening Returns From Injury
Matthew Haydens knee infection has healed and Hayden is clear to play agaisnt Zimbabwe in Adelaide to get into some much needed form.

But the questions remains over Langers positon where will be bat? will gilly move down to 6 and Langer open with Hayden? We will have to wait and see.

-Hayden contemplates how imporpant his first knock is with langer in great form.

great start by langer 1 half ton and 6 short. its gonna be intresting to see if langer and hayden open as they have done so well in the tests. also like many people have said superb presentation
