He lost his right eye (or at least most of the sight - it depends on which article you read) in a car accident shortly before taking over captaincy of India at 21.

It was said that had he'd been blessed with normal vision he may well have averaged a lot higher than the 34.91 he finished up with.

Good eyesight is often called 20/20 vision and the link to cricket was too good not to use - so hopefully that explains why he may have been hampered by a lack of 20/20!
