Atlético de Kolkata Announcement

Welcome everyone to the preview of Round 1 between Kolkata Vs Kolkata, you heard it right Atlético de Kolkata is facing the mighty Kolkata Knight Riders. This Match is going to be a treat for all the Kolkata fans. Match is taking place at Eden Gardens, the third-largest cricket stadium in the world but the pitch type for the match is unknown yet.

I know what you all are waiting for, The squad... Yes Manager NaviN will be announcing his squad first to us has promised so lets not waste any more time and get straight to him.

NaviN Gandhi "The squad for Round 1 is here, this is the final squad which me and @Aravind. have agreed upon.

Shikhar Dhawan and Maxi will be opening the attack for us, Dhawan has been a solid opener for India in recent matches and we are hoping to get the start from him for us, Maxi has not opened in any match I believe but we all know his aggressive capability so we are pulling him up the order to give a push start in the batting, Hashim has been the most successive and consistent player in season 1 for us and for his teams Internationally so we are expecting a lot from him.

Rohit Sharma, Ryan Ten Doeschate, David Miller, Dinesh Karthik and Ravindra Jadeja will be leading the charge in the middle order. Sharma has been given the responsibility to handle the team and we decided to move him down the order to add some strength to the middle order has we believe he can keep wickets and strike when needed and so is Miller, we all know his capability of striking the ball and rotating strikes when needed. Ryan Ten Doeschate, Sir Jadeja and Karthik can quick fire the balls which will help us in scoring a big total.

Joel Garner will be leading the bowling attack for us, his experience and talent will help our bowling attack to give an aggressive start. De Lange has performed well in season 1 so we expect the same from hims this time along with Joel. Samuel Badree will be leading the spin attack along with Sir Jadeja and Maxi. Ryan Ten will be our 6th optional bowler which the captain can use if needed.

There must be some questions rising about the exclusion of yuvi from the main eleven, but what we have to say for the fans is that we are trying some combinations out here and saving the best for the later stage of the game.

Overall we have a very team who can play aggressively and responsibly.KKR under the leader ship of Managers @themusketeer and @Samuels has a solid team who can give a some tough time to our players but we have a very good solid players in our team who can play according the situation. We are hoping to win our first match away from home which will give a great confidence for the players. Thank you."

The first round of the league is about to begin, lets all get ready for a mind blowing start from the two huge team, let the best win the game. Stay tuned..

Atlético De Kolkata Post Match Review
abd-png.150125

Well the fans of Kolkata Knight Riders will be delighted with the win and it was a disappointing loss to the Atlético De Kolkata.. Lets get into the match post review.
It was a total plus for KKR that they won the toss, they know the condition of the home pitch and without any doubt they went straight into batting. Azhar and Ganguly where looking little good until big bird started shaking things up like an earthquake and KKR players started falling, until Sir Garry and AB came to the ground, both took the game off from ADK, both looked steady and strong which placed more pressure on the young captain Rohit who made some wrong calls in the field. Villiers was totally taking the game away from ADK before Lange got him before the wicket, with the steady platform set by AD and Garry, it was easy for Ross and Kapil to take the momentum forward to post a chalenging total of 270 in 50 overs.

Defending a challenging total KKR bowlers started off with wickets flying all over, KDR managers decision to bring maxi up the order did not work well for them and they lost him in the beginning stage of the game, followed by a Hasim losing his wicket. Middle order of ADK totally collapsed under the spin attack of the legend Shane Warne, but on the other hand opener Dhawan was playing a very solid and responsible innings scoring 95 out of 95 and keeping the hopes of ADK fans alive but Botham cleared his stumps in the last ball of his 5th Over, entering the filed at a position of 184/6,requiring a run rate of 6.13, Karthick and Jadeja played a excellent innings and took the game to an nail biting final over, In spite of Jadeja and Karthik's 86 runs partnership for the 7th wicket, KKR bolwers dominated the game and ended with their first home win for their fans by 5 runs.

5-png.150126

AB De Villiers was awarded the Man of the Match for his responsible winning knock.

Now its time to hear few words from the winning managers,

@Samuels "We have developed a sort of pattern that our first few matches are very close where we end up on the winning side"

@themusketeer "Well that's a pretty disappointing performance. Not good at all. Its good that we won the game but we didn't expected a win like this from a team like KKR"

Now moving to the lossing Manager,

@NaviN GandhI "well to be honest that was a good performance from the boys but was not their best, middle orders must have played a responsible innings. AB is a tough player to break and he put our bowlers in a tough position. Our bowlers needs to raise their bars in the upcoming matches. Dhawan, Karthick and Jadeja played a good innings and we are looking forward for their performance to continue in upcoming matches"

@Aravind. " Four reasons for our failure in this match.
1.Disappointed with the way our middle order collapsed Rohit,RTD & Miller(was bit unlucky),but the match result would be different if two of them played sensibly.
2. I had never seen Samuel Badree bowl like this even though he is not a great wicket taker, but he usually bowls with good line & length to control the batsman from scoring big.
3.Strike rate of Maxi is too damn slow,he is expected to give flying start against any body & any pitch, but that doesn't happen he was sent early to do some pinch hitting due to his natural talent of clearing boundaries with ease, but he failed.
4.Ravindra Jadeja failed with the ball.

On the positive note Dhawan,RJ & Dinesh did their job in batting & the great Joel Garner,Marchant de Lange & RTD did their job with the ball.If we were able to correct little mistakes in coming matches then we might go all the way"

Overall the game was a treat to all cricket fans, So lets hear from both fans what he thinks about the game,

KKR Fans "We are slow starters so it doesn't surprise us.
But nevertheless a win is a win no matter how it comes"

Athletico Fans "Karthik and Jadeja almost did it. We made a strong statement that we are not here just to make the count. We are serious contenders for Season 3 and the effort we have put in this match has showed that. Dhawan played a truly sensational inngs against the world class bowling lineup"

Thanks to reporter @PCA for the fan interview.

Hope you all had a great match today.. Catch you all later at the next game, and remember #wewillwinordietrying

ATLéTICO DE KOLKATA ANNOUNCEMENT

yuvi-png.150344

Atlético de Kolkata is all set to face the Mighty Mumbai Indians in their second match of round 2. The match is to be played in the newly renovated cricket ground at " Salt lake Stadium " which serves to be the Home ground of Atlético de Kolkata in this season. According to the information we got, there has been few changes in the squad, lets get straight to the manager and see what are the changes.

NaviN GandhI "We are happy with our team's performance in the First match, KKR is one of the favorites for the title and we almost had them in the first match. The lost was due to minor mistakes which we try to rectify in the upcoming matches, has the first step in rectifying that problem we have made some minor changes to the squad, we have brought back Yuvi instead of Maxi and Zaheer instead of Badree in this game. secondly we have made some changes to the line ups. We hoped Maxi will be able to give us some fire power in the opening but that strategy failed for us, So we have planned to bring Karthick up the order. Karthick has opened the batting attack many times for Tamil Nadu and India, his playing style and techniques were excellent in the first game were he scored a steady 55 our of 59. Dhawan was brilliant for us in the first game so with Karthick has his opening partner we believe both can give a steady start. Hashim Amla was not successful in the first match but we all know about his capability so he is the best option for us in the number 2. Middle order has been a big problem for us in the first match but we hope they will be able to contribute well in this game and Yuvi in the middle will be an added bonus for us. The bowling line up of our previous game was pretty good but not up to our expectations. So we have just made few changes to the bowling line up by bringing Zaheer instead of Badree and Yuvi in place of Maxi. By giving his best Zaheer will be able to create a big mess for the opponent batsman's. Yuvi is a much experienced part time bowler who has in times proven to be much successful. There is no major changes, Karthick will keep the wickets as usual and the team will be lead by Rohit. Hope we have have our first victory in front of our home crowd, in our home ground. Thank you."

Yuvraj Singh back into the squad is a treat not only for ADK fans but to all the cricket fans around the world, for the man who fought the cancer, MI will not be a trouble at all. Stay tuned to ADK Fan tweets to know more updates and fans be there in the stadium to watch your favorite team battle.

ATLéTICO DE KOLKATA POST MATCH REVIEW
dk-png.150585

Another close thriller pulled by Atlético De Kolkata against Mumbai but the only difference is they managed to win this one. Mumbai Indians gave a tough fight back but was not enough to win the game. Winning the toss in the away pitch Mumbai elected to bowl first in well set Batting pitch, well cant say it was a bad decision has the pitch looked has it wont change in the second innings.

ADK opened the innings with Dhawan and Karthik, things were looking good for Mumbai Indians when they got Dhawan in the first ball of the 6th over but the momentum dint last long. Hasim Amla who had a very good season lat year and top scorer for Atlético De Kolkata ex franchise Hobart Tigers, was able to get back his knocks when his team needed him. Karthik and Amla gave the opponents some tough time in the field, playing some excellent knocks. Karthik was unlucky to miss his half-century in this game as well but will be happy with his contribution to the team. Opening the middle order, Rohit Sharma was able to carry the momentum started by Karthik and played some brilliant knock. But this was not the problem for Mumbai Indians, it was the batsmen on the other end, Hasim Amla who scored a brilliant century in just 74 balls and went on to score the highest score of this season. After the dismissal of Amla, Yuvraj and Ryan was able to carry the score to a decent total. Yuvraj who played his first match in this season made sure that his knock counts, and was well supported by Ryan on the other end. In MI bowling attack Corey Anderson was the only one who gave the fans some satisfaction. At last ADK managed to score 333/5 in 50 overs.

Chasing a tough total MI got big blow when their star opener Gili was dismissed of the first ball by ADK star bowler Garner, after that ADK bowlers really struggled a lot to restrict MI batsman's and to be fair all the players contributed well especially Javed and Raina who managed to score a beautiful half-century. Root, Pollard and Starc contributed on the other ends and was looking well settled. MI batsman's brought their team very close to the winning position, but what happened? The legend Joel Garner happened. Needing 9 of last 6 balls, Garner contained the opposition to 4 runs which eventually fetched Atlético De Kolkata their first home soil victory and the first under the new franchise by just 5 runs. Yes, the same number under which ADK lost their first match. Whats is up with ADK and 5 runs? is it lucky or unlucky to them? Let this mystery be unsolved.
upload_2015-7-13_0-0-3-png.150586

Hasim Amla was selected has the Man of the Match for his elegant knock of 130.

Now its time to here it from the winning manager.

@NaviN GandhI "We are really happy for the way the team played, our players deserve this victory. Amla was brilliant in the field and we all knew how dangerous he is once he start going. I would also like to appreciate Karthik, Rohit and Yuvraj was their wonderful contribution which helped the team post a good total. To be frank this was a chase able target and our bowlers were quite expensive but at last Big bird was there to get us to the height, the last over was the crucial one and Garner managed to make that count. We are happy with the team and the way the players carry them and Rohit has proven to be a potential captain.

We has a management would like to thank the fans who took some time off to watch the game live form the stadium, I believe the cheer from them helped us to gain this victory. We dedicate this victory to our loving fans. Thank you."

@Aravind. "Our batsman did a great job on a batting friendly track, all of them played really well expect Dhawan, but you can't expect him to do the job every time hence others stepped in,Amla take a bow it shows what a great batsman he is & in bowling the great Joel Garner was tidy & took the wicket of Gilchrist in the first ball, but experienced Zaheer Khan leaked too many runs unusually which put pressure on others & Marchant de Lange economy rate has made this match as a tight one.We are a far better side than this match especially on bowling, hope we will show our potential & win games with ease in coming rounds."

Well ADK fans did you hear that ? This victory is dedicated to you guys so enjoy your teams amazing victory and support your team in future matches too by coming to the stadium. Stay tuned for more news and updates from inside of Atlético De Kolkata. #wewillwinordietrying

3. Southampton Samurai - 5500 Fans
The Southampton management has announced alongside the recent lineup that new signing Wally Hammond will be taking the captaincy for the upcoming season, perhaps a sign of vulnerability with MS Dhoni's position in the team given McCullums availability with the gloves and the requirement for rotation of several other high quality players.

Also new to the team, Mahela Jayawerdene, slots into the opening position that has been a constant weak spot in the Samurai team in the first 2 seasons. There have been rumors of curses over the position as the likes of Alex Hales and Ravi Bopara all tried their luck with unfortunate stats to show for it.

Garry Ballance will be someone disappointed at his omission from the team given his stylish finish to last season hitting 244 runs in his only 3 games, something that may come to the minds of the Samurai management if the batting fails in the upcoming game.

4. Sydney Dynamo - 4500 Fans
So this season we have 6 regular bowlers. Our key to victory will be Don Bradman and Hayden.
The arrival of Shaun Pollock has given us much needed confidence and he'll be leading the attack.

Hyderabad seems quite invincible, but we'll try our best to win the opening game of the season.
That's a fantastic victory! Despite of losing Hayden, Bradman & Clarke earlier on in the innings we somehow managed to post a good total, Thanks to Faf and our lower order. Pollock's strike rate of"129.4%" was amazing considering the fact that he was facing bowlers like Muralitharan & Mitchell Johnson. Wayne Parnell's brisk 20 from 23 balls made it possible for us to cross the 250 mark.

The most impressive part of this win was our bowling. We started off quite poorly, allowing the openers to put up a partnership of 117 runs.It was only a matter of time when the first wicket fell, leading a collapse. Junaid took the important wickets of Sachin & Gibbs. Shakib did well to dismiss Lara. Clint McKay seems to be out of form.
In the end, this was a much needed victory and it was important to start off the tournament well.Shakib deserved the man of the match award. Hope we can continue playing well. #gloryglorysydneydynamo

That moment when Sachin+Sanga+Bradman scored less runs than Lord Faf #thuglife.
Well, how unfortunate for us having both Hayden & Faf run out at 0. Bradman, Clarke, Stewart & Shakib played extraordinarily well to cover it up for us. Best part of our batting was the strike rate of Bradman, Stewart & Clarke . The partnership of 127 from just 100 balls between Clarke & Don Bradman turned the game for us. Would've loved to see Bradman score a ton, after playing so well he deserved it :(
.Very pleased with Stewart's performance, hitting 7 fours and 1 six to finish off the innings for us.

Having scored 285 runs while batting first, we'd already done 80% of the work required to win this match. While bowling, we allowed their openers to settle well and score big, just like the previous game our opening bowlers failed to strike early :(. I guess, we won't be playing McKay anymore after another disappointing performance with the ball. There isn't much to say about our bowling. Finn was our best bowler of the day as he picked up two wickets and maintained an economy rate of 4.44. Parnell lost bowling form and couldn't contribute to the score either. Pollock struck back by dismissing Steve Waugh, but it was too late. In the end Bravo & Plunkett finished the job for them.

To the fans:

We know we've disappointed many of our fans by losing a game that could've been won quite comprehensively. It was nothing but a bad day at the office. Do expect us to rise again and keep up the support #gloryglorysydneydynamo .

We have developed a sort of pattern that our first few matches are very close where we end up on the winning side.
Well that's a pretty disappointing performance. Not good at all. Its good that we won the game but we didn't expected a win like this from a team like KKR.
Welcome to league Sobers! I would say it again, we didn't play as our potential. But it certainly a improvement from previous match. A comprehensive victory.

Southampton Samurai vs Mumbai Indians

Season 3
Match 5
MATCH PREVIEW
Mumbai Indians had a terrible season in the last month with just winning two of their 8 league matches and one being rained off. With the new season underway the team has bought 12 new players with retaining just six of the previous season. They signed Javed Miandad for a record 2.4 Million and some of the signings were quite high with the intention of winning. The batting department has been improved with the signing of Marlon Samuels, Joe Root and Suresh Raina. With some interesting signings of All-Rounders like Corey Anderson, Kieron Pollard, Andre Rusell and Mitch Marsh. Fast Bowlers were give the highest priority as Mitch Starc, Tim Southee, James Anderson were purchased.
Mumbai spent a sum of 16.55 Million in buying of players.

Southampton Samurai too had a bad ending to a well started Season 2. WIth finishing sixth in the league stage after having full chance of qualifying. Signings of Wally Hammond for 1,600,000 and Mahela Jayawardene for a 950,000 may make a bit difference as the Southampton based franchise kept it simple. With big names like Kane Williamson, Brendon McCullum and Steven Smith in the batting order increases the chances of a high-scoring thriller. With MS Dhoni's captaincy the Samurais are at a bit more high level. Some good names in the bowling department as well proves that its going to be a thriller.
Southampton Spent just a 2.5 Million in the player signings.

ATLéTICO DE KOLKATA ANNOUNCEMENT
axar.png

Atlético de Kolkata will be facing Kochi Tuskers Kerala in their third match in this league. Like you we are also eager to know the changes made by the managers to the line up.

@NaviN GandhI "The previous match went good for us, So we are not making any major changes to our line up, Dhawan and Karthik will continue to be our opening pair, followed by the inform Hashim Amla, we really hope he gets his form going in this match as well. Yuvi will be opening the middle order attack instead of Rohit, no reason behind it just want to check how good he is at that position. Yuvi really had a great knock in the previous match hope he will continue his form this match too, we have high hope for the left hander. Rohit will follow Yuvi and Doeschate will retain his position who will be followed by JP and Axar who will be replacing Maxi and Miller. We are curious to see how Axar will be performing in his first match. We are confidence on him and his talent.

Bowling attack will be lead by the Big Bird as always. Who will be supported by De Lange, De lange has been very effective for us during some crucial times so hoping he will continue that. Zaheer did not perform has expected so we are bringing in newbie Sandhu in, this chance will be a vital one for his career and we hope he utilize it properly.Doeschate will also be supporting the Pace attack when needed. Spin attack will be lead by Axar, who will be sported by Yuvi and Duminy.

We dont want to take any chance with the bowling this game has this is the department where our players are stugling a bit so we have made some changes here and have brought in some inexperienced players inside so we wanted to give Rohit the full opportunity in the bowling department, it will be interesting to see the decisions taken by him has the captain and we are looking forward to it.

The pitch type at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium,Kochi is usually Normal/Poor so we have selected the lineup accordingly, So if the pitch is changed to excellent then we will be bringing in Maxi in place of Axar, and Maxi will not bowl other than that there wont be any change.

The Fans have supported us throught the game so far, hoping to give a match which they will enjoy every bit of it. We are entering the game with huge confidence from winning our previous game, we will put up a huge fight for sure. To be short 'we will win or die trying' Thank you"

Thats it the squad for the third league match agaist KTK has been finalized and it is quite risky to be playing with seven bowlers in the game. Rohit being the captain of the side will be interesting to see how he use the options he have in bowling department and he needs to make the right decision. Have a look at the final squad below.
