After West Indies shocked the Aussies in thier group opener they now plan to take the Indians, who on the other hand lost their opener against the Sri Lanks. A win for W'Indies would put one step into the semi-finals while for the Indians it could mean the end of their tournament. Both teams enter the encounter with their same lineups. They also met in the Practice games, where despite a Gambhir century, a whirlwind from Gayle took Windies to a victory
Players to Watch out For:
Ramnaresh Sarwan, has been a great performer with the bat for the Windies recently and will look to keep going from where he left of against the Australians with a fine showing here
Jerome Taylor, had a great game against the Aussies too, swinging and seaming the bowl with relative ease. Now against another very strong batting lineup, can he do it again?
It is not often that the Indians openers, Virendar Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir start poorly. Both were dismissed for ducks in the first over, and they dont want their team to suffer the same fate again.
The Windies started with a different plan this time around with Gayle not going for the bowlers on the word go. It didnt work when Gayle was dismissed for 14. Chanderpaul and Sarwan steadied the ship, but their departures put Windies in a tough position until Pollard and Ramdin came to the rescue guiding Windies to 300.
The Indian openers, looking to make amends for their poor performance in the opener came at the Windies bowlers hard, and got India off to a fantastic start. When they departed in came Dravid who held one end on his own. He found good support from Tendulkar, who doesnt look to comfortable in the middle order and Yuvraj. When Dhoni arrived Indian hopes the two guided the Indians to an easy win.
The result being both teams needing to win theur last games in order to progress

Man of the match: Rahul DravidThe Windies started with a different plan this time around with Gayle not going for the bowlers on the word go. It didnt work when Gayle was dismissed for 14. Chanderpaul and Sarwan steadied the ship, but their departures put Windies in a tough position until Pollard and Ramdin came to the rescue guiding Windies to 300.
The Indian openers, looking to make amends for their poor performance in the opener came at the Windies bowlers hard, and got India off to a fantastic start. When they departed in came Dravid who held one end on his own. He found good support from Tendulkar, who doesnt look to comfortable in the middle order and Yuvraj. When Dhoni arrived Indian hopes the two guided the Indians to an easy win.
The result being both teams needing to win theur last games in order to progress
