Spain's Euro 2008 winning manager, Luis Aragones has obviously left his post after the tournament and is now the manager of Fenerbahce.

The Spanish FA are now lining up former Real Madrid coach Vicente Del Bosque as his replacement.

Under Del Bosque, Real Madrid won La Liga in 2001 and 2003 and the Champions League in 2000 and 2002. Del Bosque was quite sensationally sacked at the end of the 2003 season by the Florentino Perez regime, a decision that I still havent understood considering how well we were playing then. What happened after that is Real kept changing managers and dint win any trophies, made some horrible signings, and ran into financial problems as well, until Ramon Calderon took over and settled everything.

but he is a good friend of raul and guti who played for him at real madrid. I hope he doesnt select them on the basis of just friendship.

He is not like that and will choose people on merit. I remember he dropped Casillas, who was Spain no.1 at that time, for almost half a season because Cesar was doing better during the 2001-2002 season.

This has now been confirmed. Del Bosque has signed a 2 year contract which could be extended.

First game against Denmark on 20th August.
