hi folks,
i have message to the developers of cricket games such as codies and ea.
first of all i must say that though codies and ea made cricket games for years i am pretty disapponted with the game development. BLIC 05 was brilliant as in as much they had the hawk eye amongst other things.
Its been years since i have been playing cricket and fifa but i must say that Fifa has been astonishing and awesome. Fifa 07 has everything a football fan would want and it can be played whole year! but cricket games die after repeated playing. The thrill that you get in cricket games are short lived but fifa stays.
BLIC 05 was a hit not because it a very good game but it was a good marketing strategy by the codies. it was at the right time that codies released it (Ashes fever) and people bought it spending 30 pounds or so.
This time around the game is being released during the world cup and it might hit the sales chart again.
But cmon codies and ea, people like me spend a lot on these games over the years but there is a bit of disappointment with cricket games unlike fifa.
By having a good marketing strategy does not solve the problem, ofcourse codies and ea are going to get richer but on the long run you will be driving away avid cricket fans from your game because the game has not been developed as per expectations and promises.
Lot of time, money and energy has been spent developing these games but it remains a futile attempt.
FIFA,UR tour, Final Fantasy, NFS have been brilliant always and i see their progress in gaming.
EA and codies motto should change and it should read like this:"talk less and deliver more" - action speak louder than words
Lets hope again for BLIC 07 and wishing codies all the best.
