editing team names

Allright, I want to be able to edit the county teams into minnows. First step, I need to be able to edit the team name (say, 'gloucester' -> 'wales' ).

1. Editing the .exe is impossible, the game crashes to desktop.

2. Editing the .gob is difficult. I'm using MultiEx Commander, but all I get is about 5,000 files named unnamed01, unnamed02 and so on. I don't know where to look.

Any help anybody? I mean, it's *just* a team's name... I don't care for the commentary, just the graphical, on-screen thing.

it only crashes if you do it incorrectly

i somehow managed to change it once but i cant anymore even though i think im doing the same thing.

Editing the exe is easy- just get a hex editor, search for the team name and change them- replace the extra letters in long names with spaces. THis only works with the original exe, not sams exe.

Does anybody have a clue how to edit the .gob too? I think that's where the problem lies. WHere should I be searching for names and how?

Yep, tried as a test to change 'bangladesh' to 'bangladqsh' everywhere in the exe, with respect to upper/lowercases, and the exe reset itself to its original form upon starting the game! Even if I had it write-protected!
Any .gob wizards out there?

You can open the .gob with a hex editor, what are you trying to change?

The .gob is 700 mb. I need to know where to look. As to what I wanna change,...... duh

I don't think the actual team names are in the gob, I searched for them after i found that they weren't in sams exe but didn't find them

They're not in Sam's exe, they're in the original exe. The .gob contains most the other info. It is possible to change team names by hex editing the exe, you just have to be careful.
