A brace from Stefan Kiessling helped Bayer to a 3-1 win over Basel. However, the Basel players can go home with their heads held high because they put in everything they had and could've scored more goals had it not been for extraordinary play from the Bayer back 5. After Stefan's second goal, captain Emmanuel Emenike pulled one back for the visitors. Bony scored late in the game from a corner to settle the game. The best moment of the game was something that would not be found on the scoresheet. Chuopo-Moting beat Micah Richards and crossed to Emenike, whose spectacular bicycle effort was matched by an even better save from Begovic.

Arsenal vs FC Porto
Porto grabbed a late winner through Schurrle to win 3-2 against Arsenal. One of the major talking points was Janmaat's own goal, turning a Cazorla cross into his own goal. This was a day when two wizards shone the brightest, with Isco and Ozil orchestrating the play for Porto and Arsenal respectively. Ozil opened the scoring, but Isco equalised after about 15 minutes. Isco bagged another one, giving Porto a 2-1 lead. But almost immediately, Janmaat scored a own goal making it 2-2. Schurrle scored in the 86th minute, silencing the home stadium.
