I cannot fit Steyn into my side without upsetting the balance of the squad in case of an injury, but I'm tempted to do so anyway because he would strengthen at least four of the teams we will come up against - including the one he's just been traded out of.

Seriously, how has he remained unclaimed for so long, and how did he get traded out of a side that now boasts as its overseas talent Chris Gayle, Eoin Morgan, Hardik Pandya, Trent Boult and Mohammed Shami. No disrespect meant to any of those players - who are undoubtedly very good - but they're no Dale Steyn any of them

but they're no Dale Steyn any of them
Aged 34, injured for the past year or so, not as effective in the past two seasons, we have reasons sir!

While it's true he might not be as deadly as before and would currently fall behind the likes of Rabada, Starc, Hasan Ali etc in one-dayers, but he's still the greatest fast bowler of this generation so I would never write him off if I were you. Despite his injuries over the past year or so, he has still averaged 18.71 in Tests and was among a handful of bowlers to average less than 30 in the extremely batting friendly season we had here last time. He would undoubtedly be an asset to any team in my opinion.

What I find equally surprising is how no one has yet picked Fawad Ahmed, not just in this season but also the seasons before. Around this time last year I would have probably rated him ahead of Nathan Lyon, the current leading spinner of the Australian team. Given his domestic stats and how Aussie pitches generally tend to favor legspin to fingerspin, I'm genuinely surprised to see him miss out while the likes of Doherty, Botha etc keep finding their way into team rosters despite having played very little 50-over cricket over the past couple of years.

Formwise, he's also been bowling better than any other Aussie spinner in one-dayers this season.
