England Lions tour of Bangladesh Jan-Feb 2011/12

Things like that always make me laugh, because the guy doing it must feel like a right idiot after it's happened. Probably not the example to set though being Captain of the team and all. Perhaps time for him to sit a game or two out.

I have a funny story about the Under-19 squads. Somerset had twins due to go on that tour (Jamie and Craig Overton.). Jamie's been ruled out though, after knocking himself out during a fielding drill indoors, by running into a post. :D

Concussion apparently. I feel safe to laugh knowing that he's gonna be ok though. Just unlucky.

We should probably get someone to change the name of this thread to something generic too, as the Lions go on to play Sri Lanka after this series, hardly seems worth starting a whole new thread.

More failure today really. The batting has looked poor all tour. Root getting 80 today was good, but he needed to go on with the strike-rate he had. Buttler once again made 40, this time entirely with the tail before he was out in the last over. Hopefully he'll be moved up the order for the final match, give him a chance to get a decent score. It's got to be a better option than playing the woeful Taylor that high again.

these resulys really just more confusion to why the hell bangladesh can't win more full internationals.

they are comfortably the better side out there. yeah, I suppose that's not really englands second best team as there is focus on development but the bangladeshi players aren't much older.

they also have the conditions in their favour but so does the full team when they play. why they have continued to be so consistently demolished remains a mystery to me.

I would love to see Buttler batting at 3 or 4 rather than with the tail, he has got a massive amount of ability and the longer he spends at the crease the better it is or everyone (except Bangladesh)

Seems like Taylor worked out how to use his bat today. :D

It seems to me like the team is happy chasing down a below par score (where they can really take their time), but seem to struggle trying to set a bigger total, which is exactly what the first Team struggle with. I just hope they learn from tours like this for the future.

Another not out for Buttler too, average of 50+ in the series from him. I'm actually genuinely excited about how good Morgan at 5 and Buttler at 6 could be for the England side. Just hope the selectors make it happen. The guy's a natural in that role, as he's shown behind a strong lineup at Somerset for the last couple of seasons.

further confusion.

the U19 games started today, bangladesh u19s didn't just win, they slaughtered them. england all out for 85 and bangladesh took 15 overs to knock it off for no loss.

So basically, we've concentrated so hard on producing bowlers, that no one in England can now bat?

That was the warmup match. The first match starts on the 21st.

Well if this is the future of England cricket then its not looking good. There are some great players in there but they too have shown their struggle against spin bowling

Everyone can bat at Taunton ;) Just need to get the bat somewhere near the ball and there's half a chance it'll clear the ropes :p

Buttler has hit 102* off 56 balls today!

Game will in the balance, but a great knock from the young keeper.
