EUROCON announce European Cricket Hall-of-Fame (ECHoF) - One inductee will be voted at the end of CWC 2003
November 20, 2003
This decision was welcomed by many.
The EUROCON (European Confederation of Nations) has announced the launch of a Hall-of-Fame (HoF) to celebrate the greatest European cricketers and their hard work. Member nations will be allowed to vote for one out of the three nominees (to be announced), who will be inducted as the inaugural HoF candidate. Non-EUROCON nations can also take part to make the voting as impartial and inclusive as possible.
The requirements for being a candidate are:
Must have played at least 5 Tests, 10 ODIs and a combined 30 international games.
Must have represented his nation in minimum 2 WCC events.
Since the T20 format is still in its infancy, it won't be considered in the voting procedure or the nominations.
The gesture has been appreciated unanimously but many feel inducting an active player, who isn't retired, feels soon. New additions to the Hall-of-Fame will take place after 3-4 years so it is a really good opportunity for some of the bigger nations like Denmark or Guernsey, to get represented as soon as possible.
