This is your chance to play fantasy football. I have decided to do a World Cup on FIFA10 and thought it would be interesting to add fantasy scores to see who is FIFA's best player.

Basically, pick a team of 11 players that will be your 11 throughout the tournament. You will be allowed one transfer per round and there will be no subs. I won't post the team sheets, you must use your own knowledge to pick the best players. There are no budgets, so you can pick a world class eleven, but remember to take in numerous factors, like group opposition, when picking your players. Just because they are known for being the best doesn't mean they'll come out on top in this. Also, pick wisely as points will be picked up in all the knockout rounds, including the final, so you'll need to have as many players playing for as long as possible.

You can only pick 2 players from one nation.

Here is the points scoring system:

Event | Points
Goal | 5
Assist | 3
Save (GK) | 1
Yellow Card | -1
Red Card | -3
Own Goal | -2
MotM | 4
Clean Sheet (GK and DF) | 4
Minutes played (0-60) | 1
Minutes played (60-90) | 2

Rules:

  • You must pick 1 goalkeeper, and can have a maximum of 5 defenders, 5 midfielders and 3 strikers in your line-up.
  • You are only allowed to have 2 players from one nation in your team.
  • Each round you are allowed to make 2 transfers, a further transfer will cost you 5 points.
  • I will decide the positions of players if any are in doubt (For example: Messi = FW, Simao = MF)
  • Be aware that the competition will run until the final, so select wisely from the teams you expect to last longer.
  • Also, the best players don't always get the best scores so make sure you assess all the factors before picking your line-up.

And the groups:

Group A: ENGLAND, Northern Ireland, Russia, South Korea
Group B: Poland, FRANCE, Mexico, Cameroon
Group C: Czech Republic, ITALY, Greece, Portugal
Group D: Australia, ARGENTINA, South Africa, Uruguay
Group E: NETHERLANDS, Scotland, Paraguay, Turkey
Group F: BRAZIL, Sweden, Slovenia, Croatia
Group G: Ecuador, Romania, United States, GERMANY
Group H: Switzerland, SPAIN, Bulgaria, Norway

So, get picking your XI. A vCash reward will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

Good idea mate. I feel Masch and Ballack will do well in their groups. Had Gerrard but Russia and South Korea may cause England some problems in midfield.

Dude. A thought.

Instead of people picking line-ups (and I know this will be a long drawn out process), have a draft, so we don't get all the best players being picked?

Ok, that sounds like a solid plan. From now on just post your interest and depending on the number of sign ups will depend on whether I do a draft.

So far there are 3 of you, so if we get 10+ then I'll do a draft of the best 11 x number of players in the competition.

Ok, we now have 9 sign-ups. I'm going to put up a poll about the way we decide the teams. The two options will be 'pick yourselves' or 'have a draft'. Please vote, the poll will be open for the next 2 days then we'll get underway.

Sign-ups are still welcome.

There's only been 2 votes so far. I know the servers have been down but I would like to see everyone who signed up voting on the poll by the end.
