If you really want to you can go look at Hayden vs Sehwag and check out Sehwags stats and go watch Gambhirs 150's on right now and make up the mind yourself. Do we need to hear everyone else's thoughts and bicker over it like someone stole your candy?

Gauti for me too.Hes reliable and adapts himself to situations and plays accordingly.Can play any sort of an innings.Has a great temperament and patience too.

Sehwag easily. Players like him make people who are new to cricket watch the game.

Gambhir is better and will probably end his career as the better batsman, but Sehwag is no slouch. Best opening pair atm.

Both are from Delhi, openers in all forms of the game both are attacking, have a good co-ordination between them. Best opening pairs at this moment

Both have their unique styles but Sehwag is not predictable nor reliable. Once he gets going then there's no stopping him, but for Gambhir, he is consistent and you can expect him to score runs on a regular basis unlike Sehwag who scores big but on huge gaps. But its no doubt that they are one of the best opening pairs today!

I can rely more on Gambhir than Sehwag to stay in there in tough situations. Also when needed, he can be as or even more aggressive than Sehwag who is more of just brute force. But when Sehwag gets into that mood, he can absolutely demolish oppositions.

You Guys are shocking! Bitch when Ben brings up Hayden but consistently bring him up yourselves.
Onto the topic, I'd have Gambier anyday. He's solid and can score runs at a nice Pace. Sehwag needs to control himself for test matches.

No, I just find it unnecessary to start a thread in which a player has been analyzed hundred times over and I was specifically talking about about Sehwag fyi. I just referred where his stats and what not could be found.

Who is bringing him up? Srikar just tried to give an example. Did you read his post? He didn't mention "Matthew Hayden", he talked about the "Hayden vs Sehwag" thread where we posted numerous stats of Virender Sehwag. And consistently? LOL.
Anyway, back to topic,
I think both are equal. They are equally talented guys. It is just that their respective approaches towards the game differs. Gauti plays aggresively , he plays attacking shots and he also defends according to the situation. But Sehwag, he's a voom voom guy. He will play lofted shots and will hit the ball hard (every ball actually) no matter what the situation be or which format of the games it is. That's his style. And that is why he becomes a bit inconsistent at times. Bit that does not mean he is less talented. You will never see Gambhir scoring 100 out of 60 balls in ODI's or 300 out of 270 balls in tests. These are the things only Sehwag can do. In terms of consistency, Gauti is some way ahead, and in terms of aggresion Veeru is ahead. So 1-1, makes them equal, right?
