Toss Report: (Sourav Ganguly and Ian Chappell)
----------------------------------------------------------------
Ian Chappell: "Well Sourav, what have you decided to do?"
Sourav Ganguly : "The pitch doesn't look like it will support the batsmen much, but with any luck it might get better as the game goes along. So we'll have a bat."

Ian Chappell: "Zimbabwe just come off a 2-1 Series win against Bangladesh how do you think they'lll fare?"
Sourav Ganguly : "We'll Zimbabwe are very unpredictable, you never know when they are going to fire. I just hope they don't do it today :)"

Ian Chappell: "How important is a win in this match?"
Sourav Ganguly : "It's a very important factor for our World Cup campaign. I think if we can win today we can carry our form throughout the whole world cup."

Ian Chappell: "Thanks for that Sourav, and Good Luck!"
Sourav Ganguly : "Thanx mate!"

Toss Report: (Heath Streak and Ian Chappell)

Ian Chappel: What do you think it will be like batting 1st on this pitch?
Heath Streak: It's going to be difficult to score runs on this pitch, but hopefully the boys can put their heads down and give us a total we can bowl to.

Ian Chappel: You must of been pretty disappointed with the performance against Bangladesh recently, how is the confidence in team at the moment?
Heath Streak: It was pretty disappointing and we are hopefully looking to put that behind us. On a positive note we Vermeulen, Blignaut and Wishart coming back into the side. So hopefully the boys can play to the best of their potential and be competitive in this World Cup

Ian Chappel: Well the best of luck Heath.
Heath Streak: Thanks mate.

Zimbabwe - 10/234 off 35.1 overs

Wishart - 45 (41)
Ervine - 41 (53)
Flower - 36 (34)

Nehra - 5/41 (8.1overs)
Kumble - 3/52 (7 overs)

Things started well for Zimbabwe on a pretty ordinary pitch with Flower and Vermeulen getting off to a solid and quick start. The pair put on a 76 run opening stand before Flower popped up a catch off a Nehra yorker. The very next over Vermeulen followed Flower back to the pavillion getting cleaned bowled by Khan. Carlisle looked in very good touch until he followed to same fate as Flower while he was on 19. This brought Ervine out to the crease with Wishart, who put together some much needed runs. Wishart was on the money from the word go while Ervine took a little while to get going. The pair had a 4th wicket partnership of 60 runs before Wishart was bowled by Kumble to a ball that bounced twice before hitting the stumps. Ebrahim didn't last long before he was caught of Nehra's bowling. Streak was out for golden duck leaving Nehra on a hat-trick which he did not end up taking. Ervine was just starting to hit his straps and with a little support from Blignaut they were able to get the score past the 200 mark. Just as Ervine was starting to look like he was going to make a big score he fell to another ball that bounced twice before hitting the stumps. Next ball Kumble was able to take the wicket of Taibu, the second time an Indian bowler was on a hat-trick. Things weren't looking good for Zimbabwe, they were able to add 20 runs for the last two wickets before Blignaut got bowled by a Nehra short ball that didn't quite get up and Hondo edged the ball straight to the wicketkeeper Dravid giving Nehra his 5 for. Overall this was an extremely poor batting performance by Zimbabwe although they did show some positive signs.
