No Requests Hedgers ICC 10 Rosters

Wayne Parnell's young, he's meant to be pretty handy with the bat. But I still wouldn't put him as an all-rounder.

Some Indian players now.

Should Ponting and Tendulkar really be 60 ahead of the next best player?
Gambhir should be no wear near 4th, I'd have him like 10th - 15th.
Actaully it's too hard to judge players, I was about to say Katich shoudl be moved down, but he's that good at tests, but budget at ODI's. Same goes with Dhoni, he should be near the top in ODI's, but about where he is now for tests.

I'd put Elliott up to about 1350, considering the standard of most of the 1350 players.

Ok. I'll make a few changes a bit later to that. I was thinking the same about Katich and Gambhir as well as Tendulkar and Ponting rated 60 ahead of the rest. I don't know about Elliott. I will probably put him up.

I dont understand why you keep batsmen rating so low....

Do you really get the performance of same level the player actually perform in real????

My experience tells me that, players of rating of around 1650 would give me avg of around 50-55 in a year............

Dont know!!!!! but that's my experience.........

Bowlers rating you are using is still fine..........

@ Kunal - Why do you use so many full stops at the end of each of your sentences?
One will do, or if you're trying to use them for effect use three, not ten.

Don't mean to nitpick but as a fan of cricket-statistics, just glancing through your ratings, I was just thinking of what kind of statistics they'll produce when put into ICC & there can be many such examples but just to list one, Steyn & Vettori have a massive statistical gap between their real-life averages (23 & 34 respectively) & considering the fact that spinners are usually slightly more successful in ICC, rating them as 590 & 610 (respectively) would mean that they'll both average pretty close to each other in ICC (irrespective of the actual figures), how would that be realistic? (Same question can be raised about the difference between the rating of Styen & that of people like Johnson, Anderson, Mills, Morkel, Siddle).

Another example would be AB who averages in mid 40s in real-life being rated alongside many who average in the mid 50s, how would him averaging just as much as them be realistic or him averaging more than so many who actually average higher than him in real-life? You've countered saying he MIGHT end up being just as good as Ponting or Tendulkar but that's mere speculation, on the other hand, he could hit a bad patch for a year only to never play at the International level after that; I feel the rule of Conservatism always works well with just about everything, especially when it comes to numbers & probabilities, & hence it is always more advisable to go with what IS as opposed to what MIGHT BE.

I think a lot of your ratings are based on your perception of & liking/dislike for each player as opposed to hard, real-life statistical ground-realities. And that's fine I suppose as long as you end up having fun playing ICC, afterall that's the reason why we edit ratings, but I was just curious as to how you envision the statistical ramifications of your ratings & your criteria for rating players. Cheers.

P.S. Is it that I missed their names or is it that people like Chanderpaul, Gayle, Sarwan, Jayawardene, Sangakkara, etc weren't good enough to get into your best batsmen list :D

(he's not up to those countries yet)

Look. I don't base my ratings on statistics. I have not looked at any of the statistics for the good players. I've watched like all current international players play. I do rate mine a bit on favouritism but only cause I think that player is good. Like Hauritz is my favourite player and I've rated him maybe a bit higher than he should be but I haven't rated him at Vettori, Steyn or Johnson level.

Abd yeah, like Chewie said, I haven't done them countries yet, hence me not putting them in the top batsman and bowlers.

Well, I just brought up statistical relevance & real-life because your original post says "I'm going to be making better rosters so that it is more realistic" & now you're saying "I don't base my ratings on statistics" so I'm not sure which one to go by :p but anyways, as I've said, as long as you enjoy making your ratings & enjoy the game then that's all that counts.

About my comment regarding Gayle, Sangakkara, etc, I was joking :p, I could obviously gather the fact that you haven't done their countries, especially considering the fact that those guys were on your best batsmen list posted on Chewie's thread which was the list I'd used to post my list on the very same thread :D Cheers.
