Help with patching

Hi,

Firstly thanks to all the talented people out there who keep making these great patches for our cricket games. It's much appreciated.

My problem is I'm not to bright when it comes to all the technical terms! I have been trying to install the NPower pitch map and would like someone to tell me what programs i need to download first to help me edit and install it. Maybe a step by step guide for idiots like me! I'd love to have a go at making some patches myself so if anyone can offer hints at doing this or any advice it would be very gratefully received.
