Hints and tips for guitar beginner

Hi Steve...all's well I hope? What kind of tunes are in the book? Bar chords are essential stuff for electic guitar but are not that neccessary whet it comes to acoustic guitar, especially fingerpicking of course....

Really? Thanks for that - maybe I'll reduce the practice for them a bit then - they'll be easier to play on an electric in any case, won't they? Regarding the book, it's got a wide range of songs, from 'Yesterday' to 'Unchained Melody' 'What a Wonderful World' to 'My Favourite Things'. :) The latter two will make any elderly relatives happy if they visit. ;)

Bar chords are way eaier on an electric guitar as the neck is much narrower and less thick....Unchained Melody is a brilliant song...love he way it builds up...anyway good luck with the playing....hows the acting going....

Ha, ha - it's not. Everything on that front has come to a grinding halt - most frustrating.

Just though I'd quickly jump in regarding the barre chord trouble. Don't stop entirely on the acoustic, as it strengthens your fingers. Acoustics are awesome to play but like Dutch is saying, much more difficult to press down strings. I find that a month after, or so, new strings become nicer to Play with.

Not a sausage for ages - and then out of the blue, an audition phonecall tonight - lucky I have lots of songs that are ready to go, as they want two prepared!! I could really do with bagging this!
