I "Supposedly" used to hold the bat wrong. im a right hand batsmen so my left hand was the opposite way it is supposed to be. the moment i started holding the bat how some people were telling me to, my left wrist starts hurting real bad, if i try a cross shot such as a cut shot or a pull shot. now ive seen cricketers holding the bat like how i used to soo, i dont no who is right.

need ur help kp and others

man the grip suppose to be comfortable for you dont look at international players and see oh wait let me try this it will mess u up big time just hold the bat the way you feel more comfortable with thats all

If you want to pick it up perfectly, Put your bat on the floor and stand so that both your feet are equidistant from the Cricket Bat handle, Then pick it up like an axe.

Keep your left hand tight and the right hand loose and the palm of the right hand should'nt touch the grip this is the basic

ok leggie bro
thats what i do
and when i let my left hand loose a little, then my bat grip kinda twists my hand.

and kp bro thats what i do.

so is should my left hand be firm all the time?

If hold the bat upright back to front, and you can see the line down the middle of the bat, then imagine that line is running down the handle, and in the webbing of your thumbs on each hand, wrap the middle of it down that 'line' and you are in a perfect bat holding position. :)

the best one that works for me is holding my left hand firmly and the back of my left hand pointed to cover

i dont think there is anything called holding bat properly its just the way it works best for you as my coaches say that i mean u may not have the best way of holding the bat but if u can make runs so i dont see anything wrong with it

Yeah, find a problem and then fix it, don't fix things that aren't problems. The concept behind the textbook grip is to have the top hand in control and not dominated by the bottom hand; when playing with a straight bat, the top hand leads and the bat avoids angling up, thus keeps the ball down. I often think it's odd that while the textbook says to do this, the convention is also for a right handed person to use his dominant right hand as the bottom hand.

That said, there are a number of great attacking players who have a very strong bottom hand.

If all else fails;
