How do you hit Sixes?

Is it about timing and shot selection. I have tried adding power to my shots and I still can't hit a six! How do I hit a six and what shots do you suggest. Also forward or backfoot shots?

we have had a topic on this...search for it for detailed answer....the timing actually differes from easy to normal to hard...the best is if you play on normal and practise it that way rather then practising in the nets

It is all about timing and also, on the higher difficulties, batsman confidence.

If your batsman is new to the crease and his orange line is not nearly full it will be very hard to hit sixes. This has most effect on hard mode, but has a little effect on medium.
The only back foot shot I've managed to hit a six with is the hook and pull. Front foot shots like the on drive and cover drive are easy to hit sixes with, and also leg glance. Square drive is a little bit harder.

Just practice the timing until it becomes second nature, but the moment this happens the game will become very easy.

I mostly use the advance shot on the release of the ball - but as peole have said, it depends on conditions and type of bowler/level.

I've found that the advance shot works best, for quicks, just before the bowler is coming to the top of his action.
For spinners it works just before release.

This is an easy way to hit sixes, but to make the game more fun you should also learn how to hit sixes with all the other shots.

I like to hit the ball for six over the long on boundary, using the legside drive shot. No charging just good old stand and deliver. :D But its always fun to take the risk and charge the odd spinner. Its fun to charge and hit straight down the ground, but you have to pick your ball right. Especially if your a player who only plays on hard like myself.
