Ive just a couple of months ago got a new slazenger V200 Harrow
And ive seen some cracks on the edge and was wondering how long did your bat last

This question depends on a few things. Basically how well knocked in ur bat is, is the main one? I knocked a bat in for 7 hours and it last 1 and a half years! However i knocked in my bat for this season for 8 hours and its showing signs that it may not last as long.

I wouldnt be too worried about some of the craks unless they are huge ones. A lot of cracks are premature and mean nothing. If you are worried though, knock your bat in some more with a mallet and oil it up.

Hope this helps

The Thrid time I played with my bat and the ball hit the lower half and cracked!!

How long did u knock it in for and what make was it?

You should send it back!

mines a slazenger its pre-knocked in buyt i knocked it in for another 2 hrs
it isnt really Cracks its 2 chips to the wood how long dya reckon itll last

Yes i use slazenger, but the pre-knocked in means nothing really, its just another form of disclaimer! You must still knock in for 6 hours to ensure the bat will be good for a year.

The chips arent anything to worry about, I have some on mine.. However I suggest u knock in for at least another 3 hours before using again. Then it should last at least a season or maybe 2

Ok really because In the store he said It means i need to do it for two more hours The two chips are to the edges
If My bat cracks like Pak_cricketers ive already got 150 Saved up for The PS3
I suppose if it happens ill have two fork out another ?100 on a new bat i do like the Puma classics

Yes knock it in some more, retailers sometimes dont know whatthey are talking about. I used to work in a sports shop and specialised in the cricket section and the pre knocked in or read-play bats by slaz, gm and gn all need extra work on them. 6 hours knocking in and oiling i suggest

Ok
Thanks
Thats weird the bloke in the shop Was a cricket specialist And he seemed to know his stuff what Slaz have you got

thats because they arent actually knocked in as such. they use a machine in the factory which runs over the top of the bat and condenses down the willow but it still isnt condensed enough to be ready for a serious competition game against a decent bowler with a decent ball. for U/10's or something they are fine but you have to really hammer the willow together to fuse all the particals and everything together to increase its strength

sometimes just because they work in the cricket section doesnt mean they are a specialist, it just means they can read a bit of information :p

I have a gray nicholls gladius pro performance (top of the range) and this is going 2 be my third season and ive had about 70 innings with it. IT is still fine but a few little cracks are starting to form but its fine.
I open the batting so i also face a hard new ball.
