I'm an Englishman, and this is highly off topic but... To be the best side in the World this Ashes series no longer means anything in that context.

IF we win or draw this series, even if we had lost 3-2 nothing would have changed, the Aussies would be the best side in the World, as losing one away series changes nothing. However if England then go to Pakistan and India and win there, and then keep winning all the way around to the next Ashes in Australia, and win again, they will be the best side in the World as well as on the verge of being a great side.

It will be how England go on from facing the Aussies that defines this side. Must admit things look pretty good for the future, and I was sure we would win the next Ashes. But to be the best in the World we will have to beat everyone in their back gardens first
