Warm-up Match – Zimbabwe vs West Indies
Date: September 26, 2027
Venue: Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo
Zimbabwe got their warm-up campaign off to a strong start in Bulawayo, comfortably beating
West Indies. It wasn’t just about the result — they looked clear in their approach and
played like a side that knows what it’s doing heading into this World Cup.
They
batted first and made it count.
Innocent Kaia got things going nicely up top with a tidy knock, and
Dion Myers played with a calm head through the middle overs. But it was
Ryan Burl who really gave the innings its shape late on — walking in with about 10 overs left and just
taking charge. His
quick 50-odd gave the total the punch it needed, and even though Zimbabwe lost a few wickets near the end, they still powered their way to
355. Not flawless, but definitely threatening.

West Indies, on the other hand,
never really settled with the ball.
Obed McCoy had a rough day, going around the park, and while
Alzarri Joseph and
Romario Shepherd managed to grab a couple each, none of the bowlers looked in control.
They just didn’t bowl enough good balls in a row — and Zimbabwe took full advantage.
The chase
started well enough.
Brandon King looked busy from the get-go, finding gaps and pushing the tempo, while
Shai Hope played the anchor role like he usually does. At one point, with both set and the score moving, it looked like
West Indies might actually pull it off.
But once those two got out, it all fell away. The middle order didn’t have much to offer, and
Zimbabwe's bowlers sensed it.
Blessing Muzarabani hit a good rhythm and picked up key wickets, while
Wessly Madhevere chipped in with a couple in the middle.
Richard Ngarava wasn’t cheap but did his job.
West Indies’ tail threw their bats around, but it never felt like the game was coming back. They were
bowled out for 300 with eight overs still left — well short of the target, and a bit flat by the end.
For
Zimbabwe, it’s a
big tick.
Runs, wickets, and a home crowd behind them — about as good a warm-up as they could’ve hoped for.
West Indies showed glimpses, but they’ll know there’s
work to do before the real thing starts.
Final Scorecard Summary
Zimbabwe – 355/8 (50 overs)
West Indies – 300 all out (42 overs)
