I don't think so cause they have some great players like sehwag ,yuvraj and others who can really whack the ball a long way.
I really don't see what the BCCI is playing at by not agreeing to a twenty 20 world cup.
True ,if India does not agree the ICC will not have its sponsors and the tournament would lose its value.
But what is it that the BCCI exactly wants?
It does not want to take part in the Champions trophy,no Asia cup ,no Twenty 20 and on top of it they want their own itinerary so that the TV right holders get their worth.
In short they do not want to take part in a competition started by Jagmohan Dalmiya.
Also if Twenty 20 is to be introduced people would actually take to it.
Indians like me and many others who are involved in sports can tell you that the Premier Hockey League that was started a year ago ( Power Hockey ) has been a success.
One more thing is,people would enjoy a 20-20 match rather than a 5 day ranji trophy. The Ranji in India has been forgotten by the public and it does not have anby value. Its not the same as the English county.
India have played 76 onedays alltogether against zimbabwe, bangladesh, and kenya, England only 38.The BCCI do not want the game to develop. They want to play Australia, England, Pakistan and Sri Lanka more than every other team.
India already visited bangladesh in 2004At the moment, they are the only test team to never tour Bangladesh for a test series.

The fact is India have 2 options go with 20/20, or don't, if they don't they shouldn't be in anymore World Cups.
Cricket in India may not need to get bigger, but it does in many other countries.
totally agree with you! Good post!donkey said:I just read the article, there is so many false allegations

Same story in tests, India played 14, England only 10.
where is the logic then??????

Anyways back to the subject...why compromise on the identity of cricket just for the sake of cheap publicity??? If that was the case test cricket is doomed for sure. Lets get rid of it first, then find alternative to 50-50. Or are you guys in favor of 3 different formats???? I believe 50-50 format is the best so far, there is just enough room for everyone to contribute, whether bowler or batsman. 20/20 is bit too predictable and there is no room for defensive play and not to mention the embarrassment it will bring to bowlers. Bottomline is 20/20 will devour the true class of cricket and make it lose its uniqueness. You cant promote a game unless your team wins, 20/20 is good at domestic level for quick results but not International.
Did NBA reduce the height of basketball net so everyone could dunk?? If golf could survive why not cricket.
We dont adapt to their needs, either they could play the original version of the game or switch to baseball.
Baseball! Baseball is infinitely more boring than cricket. You watc 9 innings, and a home run may be scored. Many of my friends here also show apathy against baseball! Anyhow.donkey said:We dont adapt to their needs, either they could play the original version of the game or switch to baseball.

Sureshot said:The first bit has got more to do with the fact that India always play more Cricket than anyone else especially England.
Original version?
So you really think starting countries out on 5 day tests will get them involved?
People always ridicule the things they don't understand. Its the same with my American friends and cricket.sohummisra said:Baseball! Baseball is infinitely more boring than cricket. You watc 9 innings, and a home run may be scored. Many of my friends here also show apathy against baseball! Anyhow.
