I sometimes get bored and frustrated with the stupid AI and team selections of the newer cricket games so I'm going to start a Shane Warne Cricket 99 story featuring matches I play against myself, starting with the 94/5 season.

I score very fast so limited overs matches will be 20 overs per innings, and test and first class games will have 24 overs per day's play. This will produce scores roughly equal to 50 overs of real life play in limited overs games, and roughly equal to 90 overs of real life play per day in test and first class matches (trust me, I've been playing this game ever since it came out and I know this method works).

"Rules" I play by with this method are no more than 1 bouncer per over in limited overs games, no more than 2 bouncers per over in tests, and no more than 1 yorker per batsman per over in all games. I bowl the same way for every team I play with so there will be no favouring my favourite teams. I also play an attacking shot to every ball I face so there will be no blocking for a draw or letting good balls pass without offering a shot.

I am retired from work so I have plenty of time on my hands so please don't hassle me about starting too many stories, you will find I will make steady progress in all of them and I am faster at completing matches than a lot of the other people who post on this site.

The first series I will play is the Pakistan tour of Sri Lanka starting in July 94.

Board President's XI v Pakistan - 3 day match at Kandy - Preview

This is a vital game for the players of both teams, with international caps up for grabs for those who perform well. Pakistan have left out their front line bowlers (Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Mushtaq Ahmed) in order to see how their less experienced bowlers respond in foreign conditions under pressure. The Board President's contains a number of players with international experience and some promising youngsters and this game could decide the immediate international future of a number of players.

Board President's XI: R.Mahanama, S.Jayasuriya (vc), S.Ranatunga, M.Attapattu, H.Tillekeratne (c), R.Kalpage, R.Kaluwitharana (wk), U.Chandana, K.Dharmasena, C.Vaas, K.Pushpakumara.

Pakistan: Saeed Anwar, Aamir Sohail, Asif Mujtaba (vc), Salim Malik (c), Inzamam-ul-Haq, Ijaz Ahmed, Rashid Latif (wk), Azhar Mahmood, Mohammad Hussain, Saqlain Mushtaq, Ata-ur-Rehman.

Pakistan have won the toss and elected bat first on a DUSTY pitch, in MILD and CLOUDY conditions.

Board President's XI v Pakistan - 3 day match - Lunch, Day 1

Pakistan have got off to a good start, making it through to lunch with both openers still at the crease. The Sri Lankan bowlers have bowled steadily but have lacked penetration, with only Chandana's variety causing any problems. Saeed Anwar reached a steady 50 off 27 balls as he dominated the strike, only looking to cut loose when given width outside off stump, his most memorable shot being a square drive for six off a tiring Pushpakumara.

Pakistan 90-0 (8 overs) Extras 0

Saeed Anwar 58* (29 balls) 10 fours 1 six
Aamer Sohail 32* (19 balls) 6 fours

K.Pushpakumara 3-0-33-0
C.Vaas 2-0-21-0
K.Dharmasena 1-0-11-0
R.Kalpage 1-0-15-0
U.Chandana 1-0-10-0
