Now we all know everyone loves Apple, and a lot of people have iPhone's or iPod touch's. One of the best things about these beautiful pieces of technology is the applications available? Which begs the questions what apps do you have on your iPhone/iPod. I only got my iPhone a few weeks back and am still looking for some apps with longevity. The (main) apps I have at the moment are: Telegraph news, BBCReader, ECB Cricket, Sky News, Facebook, Shazam, TouchCricket, Paper Toss, FML, eBuddy. I have some other apps and want some more but I don't want to have to scour the millions of apps available. Some people must have unearthed some hidden gems in there?

I've had an Ipod Touch since the Christmas before last, and have found quite a few apps which are excellent.

The newest of which is Spotify, which to many in Europe needs no introduction. You need a Premium Account, ?9.99 a month, but for that, you get access to 8 million songs, the option to download playlists for playing offline, and zero ads. The way I see it, I'm happy to pay 3 pints a month for as much music as I want. If theres a month when I'm going to be travelling a lot, which I do, it's excellent, yet if there is a month where I'm stuck in a lot, working, I'll simply not subscribe for that month.

Games wise, what you pay for is really what you get. I love the Guitar Rock Hero games, basically a Guitar Hero clone with about 30 songs. Similarly, for free, is Tap Tap Revenge 2. Running along a similar style, its got lots of dance tracks to download and play along to.

I'll list a few more here for you to have a look for.

Ragdoll Blaster Lite (free, full version available with more levels)
Geared (free, full version available)
Modern Combat : Sandstorm (?4.99)
Sim City (?2.99)
Tiger Woods PGA (?2.99)
X2 Football 2009 Lite (3.99)
Solarix (?1.79)
Palringo Lite (MSN etc. - free)
Virtual Pool Lite (free, full version available)
Flick Cricket (free, full version available)
Sky Sports Football Centre (free)
Cube (free)
Topple (free)
Texas Hold 'Em (?1.25)
Rolando Lite (free, full version available)
PewPew (free)
Cube Runner (free)
Peggle (?2.99)
Reflexion Lite (free, full version available)

Like you say, theres millions of Apps which it's almost impossible to leaf through, and inevitably some slip through the net.

Not sure about hidden gems. But I'll just list the Apps I've got:

Facebook- self explanatory
iDoodle Lite- Fun drawing game
Google Earth- self explanatory
Translator- self explanatory
Cricinfo Mobicast- self explanatory
Virtual Pool- Awesome pool game
PAC-Man- self explanatory
Drinks Free- Quality for a party, just a massive database of various alcoholic drinks and how to make them
PocketGuitar- a guitar in your pocket, quite fun to mess about on
IM+ Lite- Basically MSN in iPhone form
SkiJump Lite- A ski jumping game, quite fun, the Lite version gets dull quickly though
SMB Lite- Super Monkey Ball game for the iPhone. Worth a play, good fun.
Netlog- basically Facebook but rubbish. Don't know why I've got it really.
MMATorch- MMA News App
TwitterFon- Twitter for the iPhone
Sky News- self explanatory
Pole Position- Racing game, very good play. Could be worth buying if I wasn't a cheapskate
iCopter- The classic Helicopter game on the iPhone.
iPity- Mr-T soundboard for the iPhone. :D
Ebay- self explanatory
ECB Cricket- self explanatory
iBod- Karl Pilkington Soundboard. Best. App. Ever.
Rollercoaster- pretty basic but fun Rollercoaster game
Beatbox Free- Another sound based app, quite fun, the full version would probably be very good
RK_Free- Fitness app, shows you how far you've run, allows for interval timing etc
Paper Toss- Nice fun free app. Worth a play, basically trying to get paper balls into a bin.
Fast and Furious Lite- Another very decent racing sim
Rockstars- Very fun game based around making a rock band
Sky Sports Football Score Centre- self explanatory
iDork Lite- Best game I've played on the iPhone. Superb stuff.
Flick Cricket- Fun little cricket game, not much too it, but good fun
Bike Or Die- Like the old Mousebreaker.com bike game but on the iPhone
Wikipedia- self explanatory
Pop Art Lite- Only used once, turns pictures into Warhol-esque pieces (think it was Warhol anyway)
Biker Blast Off- rubbish.
Mr.Aah...- Quite fun little game, worth a go.

Wow. I have more apps than I thought. Should really get rid of the ones I don't use anymore. A few nice ones in there though. iBod is well worth getting if you're a Pilkington fan, some quality phrases built in.

have you tried playing touch cricket pingusten? It's a fairly good game, can't quite remember if it's free or not. But I have had a good time with it, it does annoy me quite a lot sometimes but with the new update it's actually quite a good game. Saved me from losing my sanity on a 12 hour car journey through France!

all the apps I posted are free ones because basically, I'm skint on english money and don't want to have to move to the swiss itunes, cos it sucks.

I haven't tried Touch Cricket mainly because of the negative reviews at release, but it looks like the new update has improved it. I would recommend Flick Cricket, it's very simple, but I've had some mighty close finishes which have made it worth the ?2 or whatever it was.

Can't believe I'm going to spend time writing all these out...

I'm not gonna do the n00b thing and quote the whole post and make everythig really long! But I never said you had to list them all out :p. But that is quite a long list. I am a big fan of Touch Cricket and do I have to say that the latest update has made the game a lot better. What use do you have for a Eng-Pol translator?

Whilst we're here I just got the latest download for iTunes and it is sleek! Looks so good for the new iTunes!

I teach in schools with lots of Polish children and have been learning Polish for 18 months.
I'll just plug WunderRadio as it's the only iphone app I know of that has 5 live and 5 live sports extra.

I dig the T-Pain app, so awesome :D.

The Cricket game is great too, can't remember the exact name though.

I have touch cricket it is pretty fun, but the game I play the most is
Lightbike Online with my school friends, we have competitions and all
but I guess you guys are too old:D

Best app ever!

Spotify! Yes its costing me ?9.99 per month, but the amount of music I listen to its massively worth it! You sync an offline playlist on the PC and the iPhone automatically detects it, without being plugged in. Mezza like!

I am not really interested in Apps except news and facebook but I would like to have a pool game in my iPhone... :)

Right now, my favorite app is the 'Air Video'. Gotta install the Air video server on my PC and assign all my video folders to the server. Make sure that my firewall is not blocking the server from being seen on my local network, and I open the Air video app on my itouch and I can now stream all my video files from my laptop onto my itouch. BRILLIANT! If your video file is in a format thats supported by the iTouch, it plays directly without any work on your processor. If the video format is not supported, you can "Play with live conversion" which will convert the file to a supported format but you can play it side by side (while its converting). This way, I dont have to move all my video files onto my touch (I have 20GB worth of AVI/MP4 files including my TV shows) but my touch is only 8Gb.

Also the 'Air Mouse' app is also brilliant. Can control my laptop from my iTouch.
