And now suddenly they are needed again after Pakistan's Twenty20 World Cup win. The majority of the IPL teams terminated the contracts of the Pakistani players after the frictions between Pakistan and India. Only of four players the contracts were retained and these were also suspended. If the IPL teams had that much fate in these players, they could have easily withheld these contracts for one more year and then decide what to do. I would say they reacted too soon.

Anyway, hopefully some of the Pakistani players will play in next year IPL's and the tension between the two countries won't be that severe. I am pretty sure a lot of Indian supporters would like to see these Pakistani players play.

I like how the IPL was hyped up and was meant to be good for players leading into the world T20. But the team who won the T20 world cup didn't even take part. Just shows its for money and nothing else. Either that or T20 is a lottery take your pick.

^ Dilshan, Malinga, Gibbs, I think it did help them.

That's debatable. The IPL was quick to take credit for players preforming well in the WC that took part in the IPL, there were a lot more that didn't play and did well.

For NZ:

N.McCullum
Ian Butler
Martin Guptill
Aaron Redmond

They didn't play in it and they did better then Ross Taylor, Jacob Oram and to some extent Brendon McCullum, but his fielding was really good. I guess they will take credit for that too.

^ Well, you see Howsie, 11 of the top 15 highest run scorers in this year's T-20 (Nearly 75 percent), and 9 of the top 15 wicket takers (60 percent) had earlier featured in the IPL. So, I still think that it did help them somehow and acted like a practice tournament. Oh well, different strokes for different folks.

Well if somebody like Matthew Hayden can dominate the IPL even after retiring it show's how poor the standards are. I remember reading a post earlier today where someone said the IPL game us Reloef Van Mere, I found that funny.

But the T-20 World Cup too was dominated by a team which didn't play any challenging intl T-20 cricket for such a long time, that doesn't mean that the standards of the T-20 Cup are poor, does that?

Matthew Hayden looked horrible for his last 2-3 months of international cricket. He then whacks a few no name Indian's around and suddenly people think he should be in the Aus T20 team.

Please, just bring Dale Steyn on.

Howsie added 1 Minutes and 28 Seconds later...

You're trying to twist my words around. Hayden is a 37-38 year old retired player. The Pakistan team's oldest player is 35.

^ He did face Dale Steyn and he did hammer him like anything and he did step out and hit him for a big six. ;)

Sure. Lets see him do it when Steyn can bowl more then one bouncer an over.

Why am I arguing over Matt Hayden again
