The 2001 Japan OD Cricket League was the second season of the Japan OD Cricket League. This cricket league saw an expansion in the competition with four teams competing with the addition of Hokkaido to the domestic landscape. The teams would play in a double round-robin with the winner of the round-robin going through to the final while second and third played off for the remaining spot. After twelve matches were played, Hokkaido finished on top of the league by round-robin over Akishima by Net Run Rate with both of them finishing with a 4-2 record. Fuji came in third with a 3-3 record while Sano finished last with a 1-5 record with their only win being against Fuji in Round 4.
After Akishima won the semi-final against Fuji, they would go on to lose in the final to Hokkaido by six wickets which meant that the team who were competing in their first season would take out the title. Takeuchi Orochi from Fuji was the player of the tournament with 404 runs which was scored in seven matches at an average of 67.3 runs. The pick of the bowlers being Yoshimi Ryoichi from Akishima who took 11 wickets.
