Dear Mr Hall,
We write to inform you that we have decided to offer you a fulltime contract. Please could you come into the club at 12:00pm tomorow (17th)to discus the terms of your contract.

I stared at the letter and read it over and over again. the trial had been over a month ago and i hadn't thought id ever get in. i sat with the letter in my room for hours until i accepted that it was true. When i realised it was true i jumped up in the air, shouted,punched the air and rubed my head as i hit it on the light. i ran down stairs and told my parents who were just as exited as me then i rang anyone and everyone to tell them the news.later that night me and my mates had a party and i drunk a few too many and crashed at my friends place

Thursday 17th 10:59AM
I woke up thinking today was the day and then....I realised where I was.I frantically searched for my clothes on the floor and threw them on.I ran down the stairs and out of the door. I ran 7 streets to my house and panting run upstairs to change.

Thursday 17th 11:25AM
now ready to go i jumped into the car and my mum drove me to the club.Arriving with minuites to spare i ran to the front doors and went into reception where the head coach and chairman waited to great me. We went into the head coaches office and came back out 10 minuites later having signed a 1 year contract for ?14,000. with a copy of the contact and the feeling of triumph i headed home and then i knew i was on the road, The road to the top!

Gray Nicholls Sponsorship Deal​

Monday 22nd

I arrived at the club to discuss another contact. I recieved a letter yesterday from Gray Nicholls asking me to come into the club today to discuss a proposition. I arrived Around 12:30PM but the representative form gray Nicholls had not arrived yet. So i went into the club chill out room. Hoggy was in there so i gave him a game on FIFA 08 for about Half an hour. By now the representative had arrived and we went into the coach's office.The representative was joined by the coach and Gray Nicholls sposored player Alistair Cook who had come up to do advertisments for gray Nicholls, but had been draged along to try and pursuade me to sign. So the representative went through the terms of the contract and what it involved and then Cook told me how good they handle their players and how good a service they give. All this didn't matter to me because i was going to say yes no matter what, Who would turn down that kind of offer! So once they had finnsihed I agreed to the offer and signed on the doted line.

the pads were realy comfortable and were thickly padded

The gloves were well protected and were the most comfortable out of all the options.

So happy with my choices i left with yet another copy of a contracted and waited for my 4 sets of gear to arrive at the club.

Tuesday 23rd

New Overseas Players​

The club anounced their new overseas players finaly after months of decision making. The entire squad had to turn up me especially me as i was being presented with my team shirt at the same time. the club finally decide to go with Craig McMillan the new zealand batsman/bowler and albie Morkel the South AFrican All-Rounder. This time unfortunately i had to get the bus to the club . I arrived 5 minuites late because the bus got stuck in traffic, but luckily it hadn't started yet. I looked into the press room were it was to take place. There were no players in there only the reporters and camera men setting their equipment and making sure their tape recorders were working. I headed to the changing room to check were everybody was. The door was locked so i knocked. there was no answer. now starting to get worried I went up to the pavilion. The room was empty. Now i was realy starting to worry. I headed over to the window and there walking around the ground was the team. I ran back down to the groundsman entrance and across the field to were the players were. I appologised for being late and followed on. There was no sign of Albie or Craig so i guessed they mustn't have arrived. We then heade back inside towards the changing rooms wich the coach unlocked. I went and sat near hoggy who asked why I was late. I told him the story to wich he laughed and offered me a lift back. I changed into my suite and tie wich i had borrowed of my Dad. All the other players had already changed into their suites when i had arrived so i had to do it pretty quickly. The coach came in and told us that Craig and albie had arrived and were waiting near the press room for them. all the players filed out of the changing room. i got up to leave but the coach kept me behind. I took me a different way and said that i was to be presented with my shirt first. I entered the press room through the back door and sat down behind the desk. Craig and Albie were already sat down and the rest of the team were sat on the back rows of the room. So they called me up and the chairman presented me with my shirt. I was so nervous my hands were shaking as i shuck his hand and the shirt was quivering in my hand as I held it. I got a nice round of applause as i was presented with my shirt and sat down. Then the two main attractions were called up and thats when the cameras erupted in a big flash. Everybody wanted a picture of the two. So as soon as they both made a speech and the chairman announced the squad for the season we all went back to the changing room, collected our stuff and headed home. i was abit annoyed as i had not been able to talk craig and Albie and i realy wanted to ask craig for his autograph. So hoggy dropped me off and asked me if i want a lift to training tomorow wich i said yes to, and I went inside to watch the telly.

Hopefully Craig can add somthing to the batting and bowling lineup. And hopefully i can get his Autograph!!!

Albie is a good All-Rounder should be promissing for the club​

Wednesday 24th

The First Training Session​

So with the first game of the season just around the corner today's training session was important as today I had to impress. hoggy picked me up at 11:00AM and we headed towards the club. But instead of going staight to the club we turned off down a street near the club and pulled up outside a flat. We headed up and looked around. We headed back down to the car and Hoggy told me he was thinking about renting the flat and asked me if I would like to be his flat mate. I said I'd think about it as it was a big decision (althought secretly I had decided I was straight away!!) When we arived at the club the car park was fairly empty. we headed towards the chaniging rooms and changed into our training gear. we went to the vender and got a Lucozade. Because it was 11:35, and training wasn't until 12:00, we decided to walk arund he club grounds.

As we walked around I tought the hoggy had been so friendly, helpful and nice since I joined the club. even thought I had only been at the club for a week me and hoggy were becoming best of mates. We did'nt no each other that well or for very long but he had asked me if I wanted to be his flat mate.
hoggy is going to be great to live with as we have the same knid of sense of humour and he had already pulled a couple of practicle jokes.

so 12:00 soon came and we started with a 5 laps around the field. We then did sprints from one end of the wicket to the other. We did this for about 10 mins. We finished up outside with some stretches. When we got inside the coach gave a speech mainly about how important this training session was and that he was going to pick the squad on how well we performed in he training session. After he had finnished I asked him if my new gear had arrived. Unfortunately no and seen as i had sold my old stuff I had nothing to train in. but luckily hoggy said i could use his.

The fielding coach pulled me aside first as everybody else started in the nets.
We were going to do fielding training individualy so the fielding coach could pass his verdict on us to the head coach. First he stated me off with high catching. i didn't drop a single catch wich was good as I normaly droped alot of my catches in training. We then did slip catching ( seen as this was my main fielding position) I droped 3 catches one over my head and 2 to my low right. he did most of the normal fielding practises and after 10 mins he told me we had finished and to Send Adil Rashid out.

So i went back inside ,told rashid to go out and as soon as i picked up a ball Rhino (Gough) told me to go pad up. I was realy nervous as i padded up. i picked up at hoggy's bat and realised he didn't take much care to it. It was covered in cherries all along the edges and was cracking in places. Compared to everybody elses (wich were pristine) it looked like it had done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson. So as soon as Sayers' time was up i walked down the net to the crease. I was so nervous I dropped the bat. I picked it up and took my stance. First ball from kruis, just short of a length. I stuck my bat out and played a forward defence. The ball rebounded off the bat and back to Deon. i just played the next few balls and luckily made no mistakes. then once I felt confident enough i started to play my shots wich i was midling quite nicely.

I was looking good until about half way through my bat Rhino bowled one that swung in. I played a coverdrive but the ball hit the inside edge and carried through. Only now had I noticed Simon Guy standing behind me as the ball wacked into his gloves. It got even worse as I went LBW to hoggy and clean bowled by Albie. i started to get back intoy rythm my rythm and then i was caught by another LBW bowled again by Albie. Again i got back into my rythm but it was too late as my time was up. slightly pleased and annoyed with myself and unpadded. I picked up one of hoggy's spare balls and jonied him.

My first ball to matty wood. I decided to bowl a ball that swung away from him. I ran up and it went wide. I picked up the ball and felt a little embarrased but Rhino cheered me up by saying "Just warming up aren't you lad" he then told me to concentrate as the team could do with left-handed all-rounder. the second ball and out swinger again. i put it on a good spot and wood edged it through to Guy. I let out a cry of joy. now feeling very embarased I went back to my mark form some laughing and words form the lads. Craig McMillan came over and siad that I had batted well. I siezed the oppertunity and asked him for his autograph. He laughed ans singned a piece of paper I had in my pocket for me He then said " Soon people will be asking you for your autograph." for the rest of training I bowled pretty well (hoggy and rhino kept saying so) And then we finnished.

the coach called us over and give us a final talk and said that the squad was on the notice board in the changing rooms. When we got into the chainging rooms i went over to the notice board and read out the team sheet:

I was disapointed I hadnt made the team, but then Rhino cheered me up and said " your 12th man by the way" this made me feel much better and at least I could spend some time with trhe team.
so hoggy dropped me off and reminded me of the flat i told my parents the news and got a Shower.

Great start to the story. Will you be playing for the second team? Or just 12th man? Like this new idea of playing as a single player as opposed to the whole team. Keep up the great work!
