Well, I just recieved my 08-09 season stats in the mail yesterday so I just though I might rave talk about it.

Overall it was a pretty decent season considering the problem I had with yorkers. I eventually patched that up, been a bit more aggressive to yorkers in the nets. Obviously not the way to go but still considerably better. It was in fact my back lift. It was a combination of attempting to dig the ball out way too early (I don't just leave the bat down to block the incoming ball) and my batting stance. I usually hypnotise my eyes to watch the balls seam/swing movement causing me to play a bit late. I've attempted to play many pre-determined shots which have worked to my advantage on most of the occassions.

Overall Outdoor:
  • For batting, I averaged a bit over 40, not bad from a batsman coming out around the top/middle order.
  • For bowling, I've taken 27 wickets at 19.78. I got my first 5fer for cleaning the tail order and two top order batsman, one was on a hatrick ball but I put it too far down legside attempting to take leg-stump and it went for four :P.

So far, Indoor:

The season hasn't finished so far but from 12 games.
  • As for batting I had an average of around 20 or something.
  • As for bowling I've taken 31 wickets, but then again it's indoor so wickets are plentiful
  • I've been given out/run out 18 times, I reckon' thats satisfactory.

I'll be posting more stats when I'll ask for the season match book.

I'm a RH Batsman and I bowl a mix between part leg spin and medium fast though I prefer to bowl medium fast.

Season's starting in a couple of months so I'll be documenting the matches on a weekly daily-to-weekly basis hopefully.

Just a months worth of training before 1 or 2 trials I think. This Sunday we're going to play golf as a meeting for the newcomers arriving at the club. It's gonna' be bad because we have to walk the whole course and I can't play golf for crap.

So does anyone know the basics of golf? I gotta' play in 13 hours and I'm absolutely positively shat at it.

Here`s what i do, close your eyes and swing. Which is why i`m sh*t at golf.

I played for the first time a couple of weeks ago in the backyard. It's so fun. When teeing off, just watch the ball and whack it. Hitting in the air is fun. Putting is really hard though, for me anyway.

Its..kinda different in the backyard. :p

Well, from 18 holes at 3 par each.I got 56 for the first 9 holes and 51 for the second set of 9 holes. But back to the cricket, a healthy set of players have tagged along. Looks like it's going to be a cracker of a season. We start in the second week of September. Training starts this Wednesday so I gotta' lay off the Whoppers for now. But it's so tempting.

Forgot to post this on Wednesday, so here it is.

What a training session. Over the course of the indoor season, I've tried different bowling actions. I went with the sort of 'Mitchell Johnson' approach to the crease and a 'Shaun Tait' release. It sort of worked for the Indoor season but it gets bashed around on the pitch when we get out their for real. Now my action still has the approach of Mitchell Johnson but has the release and follow through of Bret Lee. It feels so natural now and apparently I'm generating a lot more pace. We had a practise match with the seniors.

Guess how I went? SIX WICKETS! Not one of them were the lower order batsman. The top 6 in their squad got either bowled or caught. The way I approach the crease an LBW from over the wicket, unless it swings in to the right hander, will be impossible. So I rarely get them. So don't be surprised if I never mention them.

As for batting it was pretty decent, got 34 coming out after the 5th wicket fell. Just stayed in the crease, acting like an idiot (ie. Leaving balls just missing off stump, shouting 'shot' to the batsman on the other side of the crease when he completely misses bat to ball, etc.). I got hit with a bouncer when I decided to charge down the wicket, you may think it's nothing, but it was bowled by a spinner. Eventually I left one to many and my off stump shot out of the ground.

Talk about a good training session, that was gold. But their was a downside, I missed several lectures at Uni for the past two days. My body was aching all over. Haven't really exercised/trained like that in ages. I didn't even stretch beforehand, shows me :D

Great bowling mate, seems like you found your most-suited bowling action.
shouting 'shot' to the batsman on the other side of the crease when he completely misses bat to ball

That made me laugh :p
