Hi Crickies! This is Amogh from India.
I'm a 16 year old and I'm in search of a suitable cricket bat. I prefer Light weight bats, but I don't have information regarding how good is a light bat for cricket.
My friends suggested Kookaburra Kahuna. What do you suggest?

If you can go to a shop to try and find a light bat that would be best. But if you can't the website you buy the bat from will tell you about the bat and how it feels.

I'm 5'10" and average build and my Kahuna (2lb10oz) is very manageable.

Your best bet would be to try the bat, if you can, before you buy.

Definitely look to try some bats. Balance is key; a master can make a bat with a lot of mass in the right spot so that it feels light. Similarly, it's more than possible for a 2 lb 8 bat to feel like a telephone pole.

You don't want one too light though. Otherwise it'll break easier. I know I might be stating the obvious

not necessarily i think my bat is 2lb 6-8Oz which i've benn using for 2 seasons (GN Ignite Players)

I've not seen bats break because they were light; but I've seen a few break because they were shite

Try lifting the Bat, see how it feels. Do some shadow practice, see whether you are comfortable with it.
Regarding Bat Weight , i would suggest if you don't have a big backlift and a huge follow through you can go for a heavy one,if you use a shorter backlift and like to swing then go for a lighter bat. Having said that , it is often advised that at a young age you should try to opt for relatively light weight bats.
