Mitchell Johnson: Australia's new all-rounder?

i dont know if he is one or he is just one of those lucky bowlers, (b/c i only seen him bat in ODI) but he is one in PC FC cricket:D

Leave him with Greg Chappell.... He will become another Irfan!:p

If he batted higher in ODIs that average would improve. He usually has to come in and start swinging straight away.

Johnson is a number 8 and should stay there, he is clean striker of the ball but he is just a hitter, he never moves his feet.

How can you call someone an allrounder when they average 8.35 in limited overs matches?

I think he moves his feet more than some top order test players (eg. Shewag, Gayle). If it works for him I dont really see a problem with that. He has a very solid defence and a decent technique. In the last few tests he has also shown the ability to occupy the crease and bat for long periods of time before going for the tonk. So its harsh to call him just a hitter IMO.

PS - Please don't compare MJ to Pathan. India forced him to bat everywhere in the batting order , I can even remember him opening the batting. We won't make the same mistake with MJ. I mean we gotta look after him , after all hes 'once in a generation' player. ;)

Well Johnson should concentrate on his bowling or else he'll be a kind of Irfan Pathan

Plenty of people have to come in in ODIs and start swinging straight away, and most average better than 8.

All he has done is tonk a few spinners for six, and now people think he is the next Sobers.

As I was telling a friend the other day, Johnson is just as likely to get out for Zero as he is to score 50, he is NOT an allrounder, and never will be, batting is not just belting sixes, batting also includes protecting your wicket and not getting out.

Edit...Johnson is more likely to get out for Zero than make 50.

its too early to call him an allrounder, similar to comparing irfan to kapil dev.

I think that Johnson is good enough to become a all rounder, but he should be more concerntrating on his bowling rather then his batting

Nothing wrong with that :cheesy

Seriously, He's got massive potential and he's really impressed me in this Series against SA, He moves the ball both ways and you never know, If he works on both his batting and bowling, He could play a Shaun Pollock type role in the future...

Johnson looks the genuine article at the moment. His batting consists of a good technique and has a good eye while he seems to have developed the in-swinger that people have been asking from him.

He will be a handful for England during the England summer for sure.

YES he is! another nice 100 from Mitch! SR was above 100 too

Another? It's his first. Good on him. He just seems like a natural.
