no matter what field I set I cannot set it without having number 10 and number 11 batsman fielding in slips which are always bowlers
I move them to mid on and mid off and put more specialised fielder there and apply all when back to bowl I go into view the field from bowlers perspective and number 10 and 11 are back in slips you cannot put what certain fielder where you want.
Does anyone know a way around this its all good and well we now actually get slip catches but when they are all caught by your number 11 batsman opening bowler it looks pretty dumb on the scorecard

I feel your pain brother...:(

Like earned stats, this is another poor oversight by BA. Such is life.

Shouldn't be life, having a stone in your shoe is life and that sucks, fielding and stats should be basic. Big ant ignore me because I brought something up that's been implemented. Wish they would pull their fingers out of their... I'm ignored so can someone else fly the banner for stats and fielding... ?

I'm 99% certain that field positions are selected using the skill sets of each player. So you can't put a fielder where you want them, which can be frustrating but I the way it has been implemented saves a lot of time. I'm not entirely sure how it works; e.g. is the player with the best slip fielding skill in the team put there first or is a player put there because that is their individual best skill setting. It can often result in poor fielders ending up in the slips when better fielders are in the circle.

I'd suggest lowering the skill settings for players you don't want in the slips and increasing their skill sets for out field (or wherever you want them) and see what difference it makes. I've edited it in the past so I get slip fielders that are more realistic but then also ended up with bowlers fielding at short leg, silly mid on. It's a fine balance but there are ways around it. Personally, I like the way it has been implemented but because the ratings are either inaccurate, in comparison to where players field in real life, or the way they are picked results in unusual selections. I think having a preferred fielding area (slips, close, in field, out field) in addition to what is in place for each player might improve it.

Cheers I checked out the players stats but found they were lower than the players that I wanted in slips.
I have found a way around it I move the default slip fielders to silly mid on/off which then automatically puts different players there, players you would normally see in that fielding position
I now have no slips but can move the player I want to slips, normally he is fielding at mid wicket then I move the silly mid on / off back out to mid wicket and it seems to stick for a few overs anyway
Anyway it sounds confusing and is a little time consuming but am now getting the right players taking the slips catches which looks a little better on the scorecard

I have just been looking at this and it seems like slip fielders are the lowest priority; e.g. I set a player skills to 0 for slips and 0 for catching and they still ended up fielding at slip when I had one slip.

Infield seems to get positioned/selected first, then outfield, then slips and close fielders.

Same thing happened when I tried as well.
