My school burns down

Apparently one of the art teachers left a mat on the kiln, which caught fire and burnt down the entire $3 million sports hall.

I only found out a few hours ago because my year were in the city doing tours of universities. I can't wait to find out who left the mat on, they're going to really cop some jokes .

That's serious mess! No doubt, the art teacher must have fled after hearing $3 million AUS dollars worth sports hall was burned, just because of his carelessness.

It would take some time to re-built it. But what a shame though.

I'm starting to think that 3 million is too much, but I guess we're lucky it's the end of the year in a week. The school will get it back on insurance I guess and it should be fine by next year, plus no one was hurt. Still:

There was a proper article in the paper today (not online though for some reason). Apparently the 3 million figure was way off, it was more in the 1-10 grand figures. It said that the art teacher was the one who found the fire (and I spoke to my friend whose mum is that art teacher) and there were about 30 kids there, who were evacuated. I wonder if any of my friends were there. I still want to know who left the mat on the kiln though!

Yeah, similar thing happened to a school just down the road, but this was done by some 10 and 12 year old cretins.


I'm just glad nobody got hurt in this, looks a huge mess.

I reckon she did well. If you can't afford to get supplies for the students to do charcoal art, come up with a way to get the charcoal for free. She's done that.

Also I hope, Dean, that you tell all of the redheads in the class at the time that they would have felt at home during the fire. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but anything relating redheads to fire is pretty amusing.
